270,000+ Samaritan Ministries Members Know They Will Never Be Asked to Help Pay for Abortions

Samaritan Member Luana from California Says, ‘I’m So Glad That I’m Not Paying into an Insurance Organization That Supports Abortion or Any Unhealthy Lifestyles’

PEORIA, Ill.—When Americans choose Christian health care sharing, they may do so for a variety of reasons: affordability, transparency and knowing that the precepts of the ministry are based on the Bible.

Many of these also choose Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, because they know that they will never be asked to share financially in ungodly practices such as abortion.

As the nation observes January as Sanctity of Human Life Month and the anniversary of the Jan. 22, 1973,  landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, pro-life members of Samaritan Ministries recognize that they are protecting life through their membership. They also know that they have not been—nor will they ever be—assigned to send financial shares to help pay for abortions.

For all of its 25 years of ministry, Samaritan Ministries has enabled its hundreds of thousands of members to honor God through their health care, which also means Samaritan’s 82,000-plus member households (nearly 271,000 individuals) do not dishonor God by funding abortion or other unbiblical practices.

“Samaritan Ministries’ members make up a body of believers and a Biblical community,” said Anthony Hopp, Samaritan’s vice president of external relations. “That means that we believe that God created every person in His image, and every life has value, worth and potential. Our members tell us time and again that they are so thankful to know exactly where their financial shares are going—directly to other members to help with their medical needs, rather than an insurance conglomerate funding non-Biblical practices and procedures such as abortion.”

Each month, Samaritan members pray and send their financial shares directly to other members, along with notes and cards of encouragement, through this effective, God-honoring ministry. Samaritan’s growing Biblical community shares approximately $30 million in medical needs person-to-person each month. In fact, over the past 25 years, Samaritan Ministries members shared $1.8 billion in needs.

Michael and Rainah, Samaritan members from Virginia, say the health care sharing ministry has been “amazing to work with!”

“We have been so blessed to share other members’ needs and have the most amazing maternity care we have ever experienced!” they said. “We love that every time we call, a Samaritan employee takes the time to pray with us. We love that our money is ALWAYS going to support our Biblical values and never to abortion, etc. We are only sorry we didn’t join Samaritan sooner!”

Joan from Arkansas loves helping other Samaritan members with their needs.

“And I appreciate not having to help pay for a service I don’t agree with, such as abortion,” Joan said.

Luana, a Samaritan member in California, appreciates several aspects of health care sharing through Samaritan Ministries.

“I love that I can go wherever I want to for treatment without worrying about whether they are ‘in-network,’ or whether I got a referral or some pre-authorization,” Luana said. “I’m also so glad that I’m not paying into an insurance organization that supports abortion or any unhealthy lifestyles. So whether it’s an issue of conscience or superfluous red tape, I can be happily relieved!”
