500+ Fields of Faith Events Kick Off Wednesday
Student-Led Fellowship of Christian Athletes Gatherings Bring Communities Together for Prayer, Worship and Life-Changing Commitment
KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Young people have many role models to look up to—parents, coaches, teachers and pastors. But it can make all the difference when they look to their peers for ways to get to know Jesus Christ and get into His Word.
More than 500 student-led events called Fields of Faith, a 14-year tradition of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org), will encourage peer-to-peer interaction that will hopefully lead to new commitments to the Lord and promises for daily Bible reading.
This Wednesday, Oct. 11, hundreds of events nationwide will be home to worship, prayer and commitment by the nation’s young people, when hundreds of thousands will gather on athletic playing fields across the country for the 14th annual Fields of Faith.
Last fall, thousands of lives were changed eternally through these student-led and student-driven gatherings that encourage young people to engage the Bible and commit their lives to Christ. On 519 fields across the country, a new record was set in 2016 with 192,000 in attendance. More importantly, 7,414 attendees made first-time faith commitments, 8,612 recommitted their lives to Christ, and 8,781 committed to reading their Bible.
“Year after year, we see God truly change lives through Fields of Faith,” said FCA Executive Vice President of Ministry Advancement Jeff Martin, who originated Fields of Faith in 2004. “We are so thankful for the student leaders who are committed not only to growing their own relationship with Christ, but to helping lead others to the Savior as well. This week, we are excited to see how Jesus will surely take hold of lives right on athletic fields around the country.”
Said Chuck, a past Fields of Faith attendee: “On Monday morning I read 2 Chronicles 34. That night I started going through the FCA Impact Adult manual that I had received. This was the first time to learn about Fields of Faith and how Jeff Martin was led by God. This was no accident. I believe this is a God thing.”
Added Suzanne, “God is up to something HUGE here as the students are searching and hungry for the Truth. There is no limit to what God wants to do in the lives of HIS students, if we only allow Him to.”
