500 From 19 States Attending Fellowship of Christian Athletes Lacrosse Camp This Week

FCA Camp at Lebanon Valley College in Central Pennsylvania is One of the Largest Sport-Specific Camps in the Nation

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The beauty of a summer camp experience is that attendees from different backgrounds and diverse upbringings come together because of the love of a common interest—perhaps a favorite sport or a commitment to Christ.

For those attending a huge Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) Lacrosse Camp kicking off this week in central Pennsylvania, it’s both.

More than 500 excited lacrosse players from 19 states around the country converged on the campus of Lebanon Valley College over the weekend, ready to improve their sports skills, build team unity, make new friends and strengthen their commitment to Christ.

“We are pumped for this week’s FCA Lacrosse Camp, which for many years has welcomed coaches and athletes from across the nation to focus on two things—the love of lacrosse and the love of Jesus,” said Ryan Horanburg, executive director of FCA Lacrosse. “Every year, we hear from both campers and coaches about how their Camp experience was truly life-changing, both on the playing field and in their relationship with Christ. We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for this week!”

The Lebanon Valley College Lacrosse Camp, one of the largest FCA sport-specific Camps in the country, is made up of full days of activity, which include meals; practices; Huddle time, where groups of six to eight boys or girls of similar age come together for prepared Bible studies; quiet time, where athletes can delve into personal devotions; and evening programs that feature the entire Camp gathered together for music, worship or a special speaker.

This week’s Lacrosse Camp is just one of more than 700 FCA Camps in the U.S. and internationally that will reach upwards of 100,000 coaches and athletes. FCA’s 2017 Camps theme is “ONE,” based on the Bible verse Philippians 1:27: “… I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News” (NLT). Seven types of FCA Camps include: Coaches Camps, Leadership Camps, Partnership Camps, Power Camps, Sports Camps, Team Camps and International Camps.

Those who still want to be a part of FCA Camps in July and August can find Camps by sport, day or location through FCA’s easy-to-use Camps site. Last summer, new attendance records were set as more than 100,000 coaches and athletes converged at 720 Camp events in 40 states and in 45 countries around the world, where 8,788 coaches and athletes made first-time commitments to Christ and 11,256 recommitted their lives to Christ. The 2016 attendance was an increase of more than 10,000 over 2015.
