89,000+ Campers Exclaim ‘Let’s Go’ at 800 Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camps as They Fulfill the Great Commission

Said an FCA Camper: ‘Another Great Week of Camp—Amazing Testimonies, Community, Healing, Hope, Worship and Word! Until Next Year!’

October 21, 2019

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Consider what would happen in America’s schools, on sports teams, in communities and even at churches if nearly 90,000 coaches and athletes came together for one purpose—to glorify God.

This is precisely what happened this summer through Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ (FCA, www.fca.org) popular and life-changing Camps program.

For the immensely impactful and successful 2019 Camps season, FCA welcomed 89,323 coaches and athletes who attended 805 Camps in 42 states across the country and 92 nations around the world—nearly double the number of countries with FCA Camps last year.

“Over the summer, tens of thousands of coaches and athletes attending FCA Camps around the world unified under a common rally cry, exclaiming ‘Let’s Go’—our 2019 Camps theme,” said Kellen Cox, FCA’s Executive Vice President of Ministry Advancement. “Campers attending six different types of Camps were engaged, equipped and empowered to ‘go big, go bold, go build and go beyond’ in their relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s amazing what God can do to transform hearts through sports, if we just give Him the chance to work in our lives.”

The 2019 FCA ministry and Camps theme of “Let’s Go,” based on the Bible verses from Matthew 28:18-20, is not only the rally cry for many athletes, coaches and teams, but it also should be the goal of Christians when they consider Christ’s call to the Great Commission.

Throughout the summer, coaches, athletes and teams who attended FCA Camps across the country and around the world shared their amazing experiences on social media. Some of the comments included these powerful words:

  • “Another great week of Leadership Camp—Amazing testimonies, community, healing, hope, worship and Word! Until next year!”
  • “This is what it’s all about! #fcacoaches #leadbyexample #powerinprayer”
  • “Huddles that grow together work together.” #fcaletsgo
  • “The Athlete’s Bible and shoulder pads… All you need!” #FCACamp #LetsGo
  • “Summer update: Two of our leaders served as Huddle leaders at the 2019 FCA Richmond Camp and we are so ready to serve our JMU community! Can’t wait to go big, go bold, go build, and beyond on our own campus this year!! #fcaletsgo

For its long-running Camps ministry, FCA takes the best attributes of both athletic and spiritual camp events and combines them into an experience like none other. Camps also remove athletes and coaches from the routine of their sport, friends, co-workers and community, and place them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment allowing them to pursue their passion for sport and clearly see and hear Christ’s passion for them.

Six different types of Camps exist where competitors can reach their potential through comprehensive athletic, spiritual and leadership training, including Sports Camps (multi-sport and sport-specific camps), Leadership Camps (developing athletes and coaches to be leaders), Coaches Camps (designed to minister, equip and encourage); Team Camps (to come together to compete); Power Camps (typically for  athletes 8-12 years of age); and Partnership Camps (FCA partners with some of the best organizations).

FCA recently completed its 16th annual student-led and student-driven Fields of Faith events on Oct. 9, where student-athletes, coaches, parents and community members will worship together, hear from inspiring speakers, pray and commit to Bible reading at upwards of 500 gatherings on athletic fields in the U.S. and globally.
