AFA: Mothers suffering long-term aftereffects of abortion should move Christians to compassion

AFA executive vice president: ‘Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, these women can receive the forgiveness of God and His peace’

TUPELO, Miss. — The American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) said the new study showing that each abortion has long lasting effects and impacts more than just one victim demonstrates the ministry opportunities Christian pro-lifers have. The 17-year study, conducted by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, analyzed outcomes for more than 5,000 subjects. Data analysis led researchers to conclude that “women whose first pregnancy ends in abortion are likely to have more pregnancies, more abortions, and more miscarriages than women whose first pregnancy ends in a live birth.”

Despite Planned Parenthood propaganda asserting the benefits of abortion, the research demonstrated that when first pregnancies end with an abortion, the standard outcomes were startling, as women had:

  • 53% more miscarriages than women whose first pregnancy resulted in a live birth
  • 35% more pregnancies over their reproductive lifetime
  • More than four times as many abortions
  • Only half the number of live births

American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano said this is cause for compassion and motivation to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“This study reveals that the death and devastation of an abortion does not just visit the unborn child who is the victim of it,” Vitagliano commented. “The heartbreaking reality is that the cold fingers of this dark practice continue to reach out for more and more victims, even as the years fly by. This truth should move Christians to compassion for all the victims of abortion, including the mothers who will long suffer the after-effects. Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, these women can receive the forgiveness of God and His peace.”
