After 30 Years in Zimbabwe, The Tide® Ministry Continues to Reach New Believers
Listeners to The Tide Gospel Radio Program Increasing Exponentially in Zimbabwe, Especially Through New Studio
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry has been sharing the Gospel in Zimbabwe for more than 30 years, but today, still continues to reach new believers, especially after the progress on a new studio there.
“The number of listeners to The Tide ministry’s program in Zimbabwe is increasing exponentially,” said Don Shenk, director of The Tide ministry, who was born in Zimbabwe where his parents served as missionaries. “There is more work than ever before for our partner ministry, and in 2016, we’re excited to report that we have begun construction on a new studio, produced a new youth Gospel program and more.”
Listeners in Zimbabwe continue to reach out to The Tide ministry with prayer requests and words of praise. One listener said he heard the Gospel on the radio and was touched. He wrote, “It was very powerful. I used to have bad dreams for years, but since I started concentrating on your preaching I am blessed.”
One of the initiatives for 2016 was the completion of a new studio in Zimbabwe, and construction began this past January after 10 years of prayer and planning. Once completed, the studio will provide a production venue for additional Christian programming. Plus, it will enable The Tide’s partner ministry in Zimbabwe to provide recording and production services, ultimately helping it to become a self-supporting local ministry.
“We praise God for this awesome opportunity in Zimbabwe,” Shenk added. “The construction of this new studio will open doors for those yearning to hear the word of God through radio programs in their own language. After three decades of The Tide ministry’s presence in Zimbabwe, and nearly a decade of prayer, planning and consideration for this new project, the studio is finally becoming a reality and will enable many lives to be changed by Christ.”
As it continues to reflect on 70 years, The Tide ministry broadcasts the Gospel of Jesus Christ through radio programming in heart languages around the world, bringing the truth and hope of the Savior to people in the language they were born to speak. Spreading the Gospel in multiple regions of Zimbabwe, India, Nigeria, Nepal, Bhutan, Albania and Kosovo, The Tide global radio ministry praises God for the many doors He has opened in the seven decades it has been in existence.

For 70 years, The Tide radio programs have been changing lives by telling people about Jesus in the language they were born to speak. Founded in 1946 as the Gospel Tide Broadcasting Association, The Tide ministry has transitioned from a domestic radio program to a versatile multi-national outreach focusing on the least reached regions of the world. Through radio broadcasts in 24 heart languages, thousands of lost people are coming to know Christ. Driven by a sense of urgency to rescue the world from false teachings and pagan religious practices, The Tide board of directors is constantly working to introduce evangelistic radio programs in additional languages so that an ever increasing number of people can hear the good news about Jesus and His love for them.
The Tide outreach includes discipleship seminars, literature distribution, Bible correspondence courses and leadership training. This combination of ministry elements has proven to be extremely effective in changing lives and planting churches where believers are nurtured in their faith so that whole communities are drawn into the Kingdom of God.
