Alex McFarland Ministries and Truth for a New Generation Growing Team with New CFO and Director of Events
T.A. Wall and Carla McGlynn Will Help McFarland Fulfill the Ministry’s Mission of Leading More Young People to Christ
GREENSBORO, N.C.—Author, religion and culture expert, renowned apologist and national radio host Dr. Alex McFarland (www.AlexMcFarland.com) and the Truth for a New Generation (TNG, www.TruthforaNewGeneration.com) ministry is growing its effective team.
Thomas A. (T.A.) Wall Jr. will serve as the chief financial officer for Alex McFarland Ministries and Carla McGlynn will be director of events.
“We are thrilled that the Truth for a New Generation team is growing by leaps and bounds,” said McFarland, who also serves as Director for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at the Christian Worldview Center of North Greenville University (NGU) in Greenville, South Carolina. “We are grounded and unified in our mission to teach Christians of all ages to better defend the truth of God’s Word and be confident in sharing the life-renewing grace of His Son, Jesus, with others.”
Besides his post with Alex McFarland Ministries, Wall serves as treasurer and organist at South Elm Street Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. After graduating with a degree in accounting/business, he has worked in the financial industry since 1978. Early on, his career consisted of working as a senior bookkeeper and moving to assistant controller/credit manager. In 1989, Wall started a 16-year tenure with Oakwood Homes Corporate office, moving from loan servicing bookkeeper to his final position as treasury manager. After Oakwood’s buyout, he accepted the position of accounting supervisor with Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation. He has served TNG since 2012 as bookkeeper. Wall and his wife, Theresa, have been married for 31 years, and have one adult daughter.
McGlynn is owner of Advent NC, LLC, an event planning/management company in Asheville, North Carolina. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, most recently as national sales manager for Explore Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau. After graduation from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, McGlynn served as sales manager at Grandover Resort and Conference Center, then started her own travel and event management company, Planet Travel. She also worked in the wine tour industry in North Carolina, creating the successful “Taste Carolina Wine Festival.” She helped McFarland launch the first TNG conference in 2002 and worked with him on many other events over the past 18 years. McGlynn resides in Clyde with her husband of 38 years, Tom. They have two children and five grandchildren.
This past fall, McFarland welcomed Jon Folsom as CEO of the ministry. Throughout his business and ministry career, Folsom has discipled flocks and trained ministry leaders. He has served as a pastor and led missions trips, and is also a well-known businessman in the Greensboro, North Carolina, area as the owner of Diversified Fence Builders, Inc.
McFarland and his team plan events around the country, such as this past spring’s Truth for a New Generation conference, which welcomed nearly 1,000 people to Greensboro, North Carolina, to hear from a stellar lineup of speakers, but more importantly, to commit to pray for America and to “Save a Nation”—the theme of the 2018 event.
