America Divided Over Immigration, But What Is It Really Costing Us?

Brigitte Gabriel, New York Times Best-Selling Author of New Book ‘RISE’ Releasing 9/11, Says Illegal Immigration is Costing the U.S. $338 Billion Every Year

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The nation is up in arms over immigration, with lawmakers, citizens and celebrities debating the topic furiously in the news and on social media.

But New York Times best-selling author Brigitte Gabriel, who emigrated to the United States legally, says there is a much bigger issue regarding the criminals who have broken the law to stay in the U.S.

Gabriel is a leading expert on global Islamic terrorism and founder of Act for America, the largest national security grassroots organization in America. Her new book, RISE: In Defense of Judeo-Christian Values and Freedom, will arm readers with real data and compelling facts that will equip them to fight the efforts of America’s enemies to undermine our nation at every level of society. “RISE” will also motivate readers to unite with other patriots who wish to preserve America’s endangered Judeo-Christian values and freedom.

In a video recorded by Gabriel for social media—view on Twitter here—she lays out the true cost of illegal immigration and how it is affecting every American who is in the country legally.

“I was giving an interview to a lefty radio station and they were talking to me about ‘undocumented immigrants,’” Gabriel says in the video. “Undocumented immigrants? I am an immigrant. I am insulted that they refer to me in the same sentence as illegal criminal aliens who broke the law to come to our country. When I came to America, I paid for my own ticket, I paid for my doctor’s visits and all the blood tests that I had to take to become an American, I paid for my lawyers to do my papers, I had to study a two-inch-thick book written by the Daughters of the American Revolution about America’s history and heritage. And I had to take a written exam as well as a verbal exam—in English—and pass them before I became an American. I am an immigrant. I am a legal immigrant. I am the type of immigrant America needs, not criminal aliens who break the law to get here.”

In the video, Gabriel also details verified facts and figures on the cost of illegal immigration:

  • $11 to $22 billion is spent on welfare for illegal immigrants each year by state governments;
  • $22 billion each year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC and free school lunches for illegal immigrants;
  • $2.5 billion a year is spent on medical care for illegal immigrants;
  • $12 billon a year is spent on primary and secondary education for children in the country illegally, many of whom do not speak English;
  • $17 billion is spent on education for the American-born children of illegal immigrants, known as “anchor babies;”
  • $3 million a day is spent on incarcerating illegal immigrants; 30 percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal immigrants;
  • $90 billion a year is spent on welfare and social services for illegal immigrants by the American taxpayers; and
  • $200 billion in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal immigrants.

“When you add it all up, it is $338.3 billion a year that could be invested in our own country, and end up in the pockets of the American taxpayer for their own families,” Gabriel exclaimed.

Interestingly, Facebook has censored Gabriel’s video and removed it just a day after it was posted June 14. Until then, the video was approaching half a million views and nearly 8,000 shares.

“RISE,” out on Sept. 11, contains Gabriel’s most hard-hitting, explosive message yet. It’s not only a warning but also a rallying cry to unite Americans of all backgrounds in a fight for the survival of the nation, the protection of the Judeo-Christian values upon which it was built, and the preservation of the freedoms on which future generations depend. “RISE” also helps Americans draw the battle plan for what they can do to preserve their rights and freedoms before it’s too late, as well as reveals alarming evidence to open readers’ eyes regarding the imminent threat and ever-widening plot to destroy long-enjoyed freedoms and national security.

Gabriel is also the celebrated author of two New York Times best-sellers, “Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America” (2006) and “They Must Be Stopped: Why We Must Defeat Radical Islam and How We Can Do It” (2010). “RISE” is published by Frontline, an imprint of Charisma House, which has published 14 New York Times best-sellers.
