AFA Executive Vice President: ‘Christians should pray for the boldness to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ’

July 25, 2022

TUPELO, Miss. —A recent survey conducted by Lifeway Research revealed that 54% of Americans believe religious liberty in the United States is in decline. Meanwhile, 36% of Americans find that Christians in the U.S. “complain too much about how they are treated.” Almost 60% “say that Christians are increasingly confronted with intolerance in America.”

“Intolerance is about cultural pushback,” one researcher said. “In the American marketplace of ideas, not all systems of thought are welcomed. The majority of all religions notice this pushback against Christians today.”

American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) Executive Vice President Ed Vitagliano commented on the rise of intolerance towards Christianity, encouraging believers to continue to boldly proclaim the Gospel in the light of such negativity.

“Increasing hostility to Christianity in America is not a figment of anyone’s imagination — it is a fact of life,” said Vitagliano. “Surveys accurately reveal this poisoned atmosphere, as believers in Jesus Christ are verbally attacked by the new atheists, sexual and gender radicals, secularists, and outright Marxists. However, this is not a time for Christians to slink away into the corner and lick their wounds. Instead, they should pray for the boldness to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ to those who are enemies of God –– as we ourselves once were.”
