CINCINNATI, Ohio — On her national radio program “Raising Godly Girls,” Founder and Executive Director of American Heritage Girls Patti Garibay discussed how parents can navigate difficult conversations with their daughters, even when they disagree.

Garibay stated, “Gen Z is a highly relational generation. Chances are, your girl views the world around her through the lens of her relationships.

“Here’s a reality that can be difficult for Christian parents to hear: more often than not, girls today base their opinions and beliefs off the relationships they have rather than first seeking what the Bible instructs. Whether it’s on issues of identity, gender, or something else, your daughter is likely already formulating her opinions based on her relational experiences.”

Garibay continued, “If your daughter has a viewpoint that you don’t agree with — ask her about it. During this conversation a ‘listen to understand’ mindset is key. Speak truth in love. Look for times in the conversation that you can share God’s Word in a way that is honest and compassionate.”

The “Raising Godly Girls” radio feature and Raising Godly Girls blog shares guidance and biblically based advice on many key topics affecting girls today.
