CINCINNATI, Ohio —On her national radio program “Raising Godly Girls,” Founder and Executive Director of American Heritage Girls Patti Garibay recently discussed the power helpful or harmful words can have on girls.

Garibay stated, “Girls can struggle with acceptance from peers and sometimes within their own families. The lack of maturity and perspective due to youthfulness can color their outlook on how they view these interpersonal relationships.

“Help your girl to feel accepted by assuring her of your steadfast love and guidance. Show her your acceptance by speaking good words of truth and encouragement. Teach her to turn to the Lord in prayer for strength and thanksgiving for her God-given attributes that make her unique and wonderfully made.”

Garibay concluded, “Words have power to heal and to hurt. Proverbs reminds us that ‘anxiety weighs us down in the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.’ Let’s all choose kindness today.”

The “Raising Godly Girls” radio feature and Raising Godly Girls blog shares guidance and biblically based advice on many key topics affecting girls today.
