‘Are We There Yet?’ By Paul and Terrie Chappell Debuts in One Month!
New Book Out on Oct. 17 is Travel-Themed ‘Guidebook’ for Marriage; Launch Event at Couples Conference in Hagerstown, MD Oct. 19-21
LOS ANGELES—Many people get married with the assumption that marriage itself is a destination. But along the way, couples discover that, as wonderful as marriage may be, it is more of a journey than it is a destination.
Rather than being an island of unending bliss, marriage is more like a long road trip—the kind of road trip where you are excited for the destination, love the memories along the way and sometimes even get annoyed with aspects of the journey.
These are the marital truths behind the soon-to-be-released book by Dr. Paul Chappell, senior pastor of Lancaster Baptist Church and author of well over 25 books that span an inspiring pastoral career. Written with his wife of 37 years, Terrie, “Are We There Yet? Marriage—a Perfect Journey for Imperfect Couples” is a travel guide of sorts so that a God-centered marriage can be a fulfilling destination rather than a frustration-filled trip.
“No couple has ‘arrived,’ but every Christian couple can enjoy marriage as the incredible journey God intended it to be,” Dr. Chappell says. “Whether married for one week or 50 years, nearly every couple has figured out that marriage is not easy. Sometimes, couples spend more time planning a vacation, packing and arranging flights than focusing on their commitment to each other. It takes work, but marriage can be fun and fulfilling too, especially when God is at the center and guiding every twist and turn along life’s journey.”
“Are We There Yet?” will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and the official launch event will take place at the Couples Conference at Emmanuel Baptist Temple on Oct. 19-21 in Hagerstown, Maryland. The weekend aims to give couples a boost of strength and encouragement for their marriage. Besides the Chappells, conference speakers include Dr. Tim and Sharon Rabon and Dr. Mark and April Campbell. Whether newlyweds or married for decades, husbands and wives will find truth in “Are We There Yet?” to help them clarify their destination, communicate their needs, grow as a couple and even shed some baggage along the way. With chapter titles such as “Paying with Foreign Currency,” “It’s a Two-Lane Highway,” “Roadblocks” and “Booking a Room,” “Are We There Yet?” explores topics from needs and communication to conflict and intimacy.
Pre-orders for “Are We There Yet?” may be made online at www.AreWeThereYetBook.com. Bonus items for those who pre-order before Oct. 17 include Chapter 1 in PDF format, a marriage Q&A video session with the Chappells, downloadable “Travel with Me” cards—52 questions to inspire your marriage journey; and a printed “Are We There Yet?” companion guide for the first 1,000 pre-orders.
