Financial Expert Dan Celia: Congress Has to Get Serious About the Fiscal Policies That Will Impact All Americans and Foster Growth

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Congress is back in session today, with priorities that can no longer wait.

Financial expert and nationally syndicated host Dan Celia has talked extensively on his daily, three-hour call-in program, Financial Issues,” about the inaction of Congress when it comes to the money matters that will impact many Americans, including the repeal and replacement of Obamacare and the passage of tax reform measures.

“There’s lots of work that has to be done, but the real question is, how will Congress prioritize fiscal policies that are urgently needed to ease the financial burden on middle-class Americans and allow them to save more, spend less on health care and finally feel secure in their finances?”

Celia recently penned an op-ed for, where he is a featured contributor, and wrote that Republicans have claimed they’ve tried to repeal and replace a government health care system that is hurting American families. But in actuality, Celia says, Congress never truly debated a real repeal.  Instead, they concentrated on talking points to use in the election cycle. Now, it would seem that tax reform is taking the same path of inaction.

“If tax reform does not get done by the end of this year, it’s not the end of the world,” Celia said. “But, whether it’s 2017 or 2018, failure to pass it could signal the end of the Republican Party as we know it.

“Many people think the markets have some of this probable inaction factored in, and they haven’t really moved on the idea that tax reform must get done this year,” Celia continued. “By the way, that should give us some comfort as we watch recovery happening in the economy through, for example, GDP growth like we haven’t seen in years. It would appear this is a real recovery, not economic growth because of something that might happen or something the government has artificially created.”
