Biblical Values, Godly Character Plugged as Legacy Builders at NACFC Virtual Conference Kickoff

Keynote Speaker Alan Ross: ‘Legacy Is What We Leave Behind, Stewardship Is What We Do With It’

July 6, 2020

ORLANDO, Fla.—Social distancing mandates and market whimsies are no excuse for letting companies slip out of alignment with their core values—or for not convening hundreds of financial advisers for a virtual conference to tell them so, according to the keynote speaker at the first of six virtual conference sessions hosted by National Association of Christian Financial Consultants (NACFC, nacfc.org).

Kicking off this year’s NACFC “Alignment 2020” virtual conference, Alan Ross, president and CEO of Kingdom Companies, rallied more than 160 attendees to take seriously leaving a legacy of aligning one’s business values with God’s values.

In the NACFC “Alignment 2020” premiere session in June, Ross demonstrated his experience as a financial consultant committed to Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI). His talk, “Aligning Your Business with Godly Principles,” centered on the incontrovertible, weighty commitments of the Christian financial consultant.

“I want to talk about what does God value,” Ross said. “This is scary for me. I’ve really put in some prayer, Bible study, counsel—I’ve talked to a lot of other people about it. But what would be the three most critical things in God’s heart, his vision for mankind?”

Ross then addressed three pivotal values every Christian financial planner must align themselves with: salvation by grace, service through his Son, and sanctification through the Holy Spirit.

Practicing BRI is more than adopting a few extraneous Christian values. According to Ross, BRI means thoroughly committing oneself to discipleship and to being transformed by the Holy Spirit.

“It’s more than just our values,” Ross said. “It’s the person behind those values.”

Turning to the subject of business growth, which the COVID-19 pandemic has complicated, Ross argued BRI should be a core commitment of the Christian financial planner regardless of world events. In addition, BRI naturally steers Christian financial planners toward serving clients with lasting excellence, Ross said.

“Legacy is what we leave behind,” Ross said. “Stewardship is what we do with it. BRI is stewardship. If you’ve got a legacy, then you’re aligned with God’s purpose. You’ve aligned your practice with God’s purpose.”

Since Ross’s talk, additional financial advisers have flocked toward the registration page to sign up for the second session of NACFC’s “Alignment 2020” virtual conference.

Latecomers can view Ross’s talk online at https://nacfc.org/alignment-2020/.

NACFC is now offering the remaining sessions of the “Alignment 2020” virtual conference free of charge to anyone, member or guest. Sessions are expected to run for one hour, and special sessions and sponsor presentations may be added.
