Bomberger: ‘This should alarm every American who holds dear our constitutionally guaranteed free speech rights’
August 1, 2022
WASHINGTON D.C. — In a concerning but unsurprising turn of events, streaming giant YouTube announced its intention to “remove content that provides instructions for unsafe abortion methods or promotes false claims about abortion safety under our medical misinformation policies.” Pro-life advocates across the nation are speaking out against yet another attempt to silence the truth about the violence of abortion and spread more pro-abortion propaganda.
A passionate voice in the fight for life at any age or stage, Ryan Bomberger, chief creative officer and co-founder of The Radiance Foundation (Radiance, www.radiance.life), responded to YouTube’s stance on ‘misinformation,’ claiming that suppressing the truth about abortion isn’t just morally wrong — it’s unconstitutional.
“Big tech loves big censorship,” Bomberger stated. “Oh, the irony that in the freest nation on earth, American companies want to suppress Americans’ speech. Google is pulling a Chinese Communist Party move by its announcement that it will remove ‘disinformation’ (aka truth) about abortion. The tech giant says it will remove misinformation about ‘abortion’s safety.’ There’s nothing safe about an act that always kills at least one human being. There’s nothing safe about an act that physically, psychologically and spiritually harms mothers. These globally documented harms are ignored by our nation’s medical establishment and will now be considered ‘disinformation’ by a radically pro-abortion Google. When Congressional Democrats encourage this kind of suppression of medical information, they are violating the First Amendment. This should alarm every American who holds dear our constitutionally guaranteed free speech rights. Slavery abolitionist Frederick Douglass understood the crucial nature of freedom of expression, saying: ‘Equally clear is the right to hear. To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker. It is just as criminal to rob a man of his right to speak and hear as it would be to rob him of his money.’ It’s 2022, and ‘progressivism’ fails to catch up with principles expressed in 1860.”
