Brokenness, Prayer, Obedience Will Spark Revival
‘The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance’ on Sept. 26 in Washington, D.C., Prepares All for Revival
June 22, 2020
NEW YORK—Just three months away from the “The Return,” a landmark national and global day of prayer and repentance in Washington, co-leaders Jonathan Cahn and Kevin Jessip emphasize obedience as the critical and often neglected step toward revival.
Jonathan Cahn, author of “The Harbinger” and multiple New York Times Best Sellers, says obedience and repentance is the factor often missing in the longing for revival.
“Obedience is key to unlocking revival,” Cahn said. “In the new covenant, we belong to Him and are to give ourselves completely to Him in love and obedience. This dedication and obedience is to be marked by joy, not fear, because God lives in us and enables us to love and obey Him.”
“The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance,” set for September 26, aims to turn the heart of the nation back toward God, away from spiritual degradation and idolatry. As individuals and as a nation, Americans desperately need to experience God’s presence and redemptive work. Leaders of the “The Return” echo the cries in Isaiah 64:1-3 for the United States:
Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence, as when fire kindles brushwood, and the fire causes water to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, and that the nations might tremble at your presence! When you did awesome things that we did not look for, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
“The Return” is a response by God’s people to indications America is living through sin’s cumulative consequences, and that as a result Christians are experiencing great trials and testing of their faith. This extreme spiritual crisis must be met with a great awakening ignited by the fire of obedience of believers. “The Return” will challenge Christians to develop a deeper relationship with God through brokenness, prayer, and repentance.
As Christians walk in the Spirit and in obedience to God’s Word, personal and national revival will flourish. Co-chair Kevin Jessip says “The Return” movement will unify obedient believers into a nationwide and worldwide revival.
“We must seize the moment,” Jessip said, “Carpe diem—seize the day! Seize the God-given opportunity. The scripture says in Ephesians 3:20 that God will ‘do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us.’ However, for that to happen, we must be men of action who are ready to respond by faith to what God has initiated.”
This global and national movement will culminate in a major event on September 26 in Washington, D.C., to encourage our nation to obey the Lord. But this movement is not just about an event. It’s about Christians faithfully and obediently seeking the Lord.
Revival is one of the five elements of “The Return” movement that lead to God’s redemption of the human condition, knowing that it is only the Holy Spirit who can lead a person to return to God: Repentance, Reconciliation, Restoration, Revival and Reformation.
“The Return” is for all believers who love the Lord from all denominations and backgrounds. Leaders already on board with “The Return” include Gen. William Boykin, Carter Conlon, Dr. James Dobson, Bishop Harry Jackson, Alveda King, Anne Graham Lotz, Pat and Gordon Robertson, Kevin and Sam Sorbo, Stephen E. Strang and many more.
Cahn has also recorded a special video for “The Return,” which already has over a million views. Watch here.
“The Return” is set for 40 days before the presidential election, and on the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, in the days of America’s founding and dedication to God. Surrounding the “The Day of Return” on Sept. 26 at the Washington Mall will be 10 days, known from ancient times as the Days of Awe, to be set as a special time of prayer and repentance from Sept. 18-28.
Coordinated events within “The Return” movement will also take place throughout America’s cities, towns, houses of worship and homes, as well as in multiple countries around the world, as many believe the nation has been given a critical window of opportunity to repent and return to God.
