September 2, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Center for Security Policy (Center, centerforsecuritypolicy.org) today announced the resumption of its successful webinar series for the Fall with featured discussions of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Iranian state-sponsored terrorism under Iran’s new president, and China’s media warfare against Taiwan.
“The Center’s webinar series gives us the chance to bring timely and important policy discussions directly to viewers,” said Center President and CEO Fred Fleitz. “It’s a great way to reach lawmakers, policymakers, and interested citizens in a convenient manner. We also find that people continue to stream our webinars once we post them, which further expands their reach by allowing people to watch on their own time.”
The first webinar in the Fall series is a 9/11 commemorative program that will feature the recollections of former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra, who was at the U.S. Capitol that day. It will also feature 9/11 family member Debra Burlingame whose brother, Charles “Chic” Burlingame, was the pilot of American Airlines flight 77 that al-Qaeda terrorists crashed into the Pentagon. That webinar will take place Wednesday, September 8 at 1pm ET.
The second Center webinar will discuss the potential of Iranian-backed terrorism under Iran’s new president Ebrahim Raisi and will be broadcast from the Conservative Partnership Institute on Wednesday, September 29 at 1pm ET. This webinar will feature Dr. Victoria Coates who is the Director of the Center’s Program on the Middle East and North Africa. Dr. Coates served as Deputy National Adviser and Senior Director for the Middle East and North Africa in the Trump National Security Council. It will also feature Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22), Marshall Billingslea the former Assistant Secretary for Terrorist Financing at the United States Department of the Treasury, and Simone Ledeen, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East Policy. The panel will be moderated by the Executive Director of Iranian Americans for Liberty, Bryan Leib.
The Center’s next webinar on Wednesday, October 6 at 1pm ET will feature a discussion of the forthcoming Center for Security Policy Press book, Media Warfare: Taiwan’s Battle for the Cognitive Domain, by Kerry Gershaneck. Professor Gershaneck is a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Institute of East Asian Studies, National Chengchi University in Taiwan, and a member of The Research Institute for Japan-U.S.-Taiwan Relations (JUST) security think tank. It will be moderated by the Center’s China Program Coordinator Adam Savit.
