Consumer Confidence at 15-Year High

Financial Expert and Nationally Syndicated Host Dan Celia Says the Positive Feelings About the Economy Are Undoubtedly a ‘Trump Effect’

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Fox News is reporting that American consumers are feeling more confident than they have in 15 years.

Yesterday, the Conference Board reported that the consumer confidence index climbed to 113.7 in December, up from 109.4 in November, and is the highest since August 2001, when confidence levels were at 114.

Many think the peak is due to a positive economic outlook since the election of Donald Trump—including Trump himself.

Financial expert and nationally syndicated radio and television host Dan Celia says the numbers are indeed a “Trump effect.”

“Yesterday, we saw consumer confidence at a 15-year high, and I expect that we will continue to see an overwhelming amount of consumer enthusiasm that has been pent up for the past eight years,” Celia said. “This is undoubtedly a Trump effect, and barring any dramatic missteps by this new administration, we may finally get to a place where the economy begins to drive enthusiasm, and enthusiasm continues to drive markets in a sustainable and stable way.

“As I’ve been saying for the past several weeks,” Celia added, “the American economy is so much about consumer confidence. Remember, 71 percent of the economy is based on consumers making purchases, and that can only happen when they are secure in the fact that they will have a job tomorrow, that there is opportunity for job growth, and wage growth is sustainable for many years. It certainly doesn’t hurt that Washington will be changing the way it does business. Americans can also begin to feel confident again that we have leadership who will fight for the rights of the people, protect our borders and preserve our freedoms.”

According to Fox News, “The index measures consumers’ assessment of current conditions, which dipped from November but was still very positive, and their expectations for the future, which hit a high. Director of economic indicators at the Conference Board Lynn Franco said the ‘post-election surge in optimism’ was strongest among Americans who were older.”

In his ministry, Financial Issues Stewardship Ministries (FISM, www.financialissues.org), Celia hones in on biblical investing and advises Christians how they can honor God by choosing companies that are not associated with immoral or anti-biblical issues, such as having stake in abortion, pornography, same-sex marriage or other matters that should be concerning to Christians. Through FISM, Celia educates investors by researching the organizations that corporations support and then encourages biblically responsible investing so that God is honored, especially as Americans plan for the new year financially.

“Financial Issues” recently began streaming on its own YouTube Channel, Financial Issues with Dan Celia. The ministry also recently introduced the new Financial Issues app; learn more here. Besides more than 600 radio stations, “Financial Issues” is seen on the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) television network, reaching 45 million households, BizTV, which reaches millions more in major markets, and Dove-TV in the Pacific Northwest.
