FCA hosts over 18,000 Huddles in 105 countries in schools around the world

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nearly half of the middle school and high school students in America are involved in school sports. Participating in school sports has significant benefits, such as better mental, emotional, social and physical health, future educational and career success, and even an economic and community impact.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) helps coaches and athletes around the world develop another benefit through sports — a relationship with Christ. A leader in sports ministry for nearly seven decades, FCA is dedicated to leading every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
“FCA continues to equip and empower sports leaders across the globe and we couldn’t be more excited for what is coming for the next school year,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “Through great resources and tools like Huddles, we have even more opportunity to reach every coach and athlete for Christ.”
One way FCA helps coaches and athletes foster a growing relationship with Christ is through gatherings called Huddles, as well as numerous efforts toward team unity such as early morning Bible studies and larger, campus-wide events that sincerely share faith and fellowship.
Huddles are a key component of FCA’s mission to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. Now in 105 countries, FCA’s 18,000+ Team Huddles are the ministry’s proverbial weight room. In the past year, FCA reported 16,428 U.S. Huddles and 1,678 International Huddles. Huddles bring coaches and athletes together to study the Bible and hold each other accountable to grow spiritually, just as teams encourage players to grow mentally and physically.
In addition to key outreaches such as Camps or virtual assets, FCA organizes its many resources for coaches and athletes into three handy categories:
- Personal Growth: From devotionals to Bible studies to free and printed materials, FCA’s personal growth resources help grow the heart of the competitor for Christ, Daily Impact Play Devotional, The CORE, and The Four.
- Training: For those who are interested in starting a Huddle themselves, FCA offers training and resources online. This includes discipleship training called E3 Training, 360 Coach Training, and resources like The CORE and The Four, as well as Huddle Guidelines. FCA Huddle Tools is also a helpful place to find training, resources and gear for Huddles.
- Ministry: Coaches and athletes already participating in FCA can find training, resources, and gear for Huddles at FCA Huddle Tools.
FCA’s theme for 2022 is Every, based on Ephesians 1:3: “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” FCA reminds Christian coaches and athletes that they already have everything they need in Christ and encourages them to seek Him both on and off the field.
