FCA is Determined to Lead Every Coach and Athlete Into a Growing Relationship with Christ Through Sport
December 6, 2021
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As the Christmas season begins, many Christians are delving even deeper into their Bibles during this time of reflection and gratitude. Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org), is dedicated to encouraging coaches and athletes to pursue a stronger relationship with Christ through sport. FCA recognizes this added emphasis and is proud to present several devotional options for coaches and athletes to further their study of God’s Word.
FCA has partnered with the Bible app to present several guided devotionals, such as “Heart of an Athlete,” “The Thankful Competitor,” and “Steadfast: Pursue Truth.” All of FCA’s devotional options encourages coaches and athletes to seek Christ both on and off the athletic field.
FCA’s President and CEO Shane Williamson commented, “Getting into the Bible is the best way to grow your faith and connect with other believers. We are humbled and excited for our partnership with YouVersion to publish Bible reading plans for the Christian Competitor, and we pray God continues to use this avenue for greater impact.”
Following an eight-day plan, “The Thankful Competitor” follows the stages of being a thankful competitor in all aspects of life, stating that “whether winning or losing or competing or coaching, the thankful competitor always gives thanks to God.”
“Steadfast: Pursue Truth” is a four-day devotional that invites readers to dig deeper into what it means to pursue truth and remain anchored in God’s Word through seasons of uncertainty.
“Heart of an Athlete” contains seven short devotions for athletes at any level, offering memorable, biblical insights for handling challenges and competing with God’s purposes in mind.
All of FCA’s devotional plans are designed to motivate coaches and athletes to intensely study the Bible and commit to regular spiritual training for life on and off the field. This motivation aligns strongly with their mission to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church and see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
FCA’s theme for 2021 is Pursue, based on 1 Timothy 6:11: “Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” FCA encourages its members to pursue God’s use of His Word as an anchor, grounding Christians as they look to His Kingdom.
