FCA’s 2021 Leadership and Partnership Camps—Believers Serve a Strong God and All are Called to Be Like Him

Last FCA Camp Season: Nearly 100,000 Coaches and Athletes Attended 805 Camps in 42 States and 92 Nations

July 16, 2021

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The summer of 2021 is now well underway! And for the thousands of coaches and student-athletes who are attending Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) Camps across America and the globe—or who will be heading there shortly—this exciting summer experience promises to change lives, both athletically and spiritually. FCA Camps are open and in full swing this summer.

Among the slate of FCA offerings are Leadership Camps, in which Huddle Coaches, student-athletes, and volunteers learn to serve as leaders on their local campuses or within their hometown communities. This camp teaches practical skills for Christian growth and provides the critical training tools needed for spiritual, organizational, and motivational leadership within the FCA Campus Ministry.

“At FCA’s Leadership Camps, student-athletes learn how Christ-followers are called to be like Him in every area of their lives, including athletics. They are being trained on passionately pursuing the Lord and how to be a disciple-maker by Engaging, Equipping, and Empowering others,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “What a blessing it is to see how thousands of coaches and student-athletes strengthen their faith in Christ at these camps, and stretch their muscles as devout, determined, and gifted leaders.”

Partnership Camps are those in which FCA develops a relationship with existing camps in order to provide athletic or spiritual components. These programs include curriculum, resources, guest speakers, meetings, staff, and much more. In these camps, FCA joins in as a dedicated and committed co-sponsor.

Testimonials from those who have attended FCA’s unique Leadership and Partnership Camps speak volumes:

  • “After a day of not being with these girls, I’m already missing them so much. It was amazing getting to see them all lead kids to the Cross and be rock stars! Thankful for your willingness to serve the KING.”
  • “Man, what a time it was at FCA! God is so good and I can’t thank Him enough for giving me the ability to play the sport I love!”
  • “What a full and awesome day at FCA Leadership Camp. Engage … equip … empower.”
  • “Praying whether we win or lose, thankful for the chance to compete and honor our God in competition.”
  • “These guys in Huddle 8 changed my life and all experienced God work in their lives.”
  • “A team that prays together stays together and gets through trials together and overcomes together and celebrates together.”

FCA’s numbers and impact are truly impressive. FCA welcomed a record-setting 89,323 coaches and athletes to its programs in the summer of 2019 (the most recent camp season, given the COVID pandemic). These 89,323 coaches and athletes attended 805 camps in 42 states across the country, as well as 92 nations around the globe—nearly double the number of countries that hosted FCA camps the previous year. At these FCA Camps, 20,526 individuals made faith decisions for Christ.

The Christian Post recently highlighted the many benefits of FCA Camps in this noteworthy article.

Six different types of FCA Camps provide competitors with the chance to reach their potential through athletic, spiritual, and leadership training: Sports Camps (multi-sport and sport-specific camps); Leadership Camps (developing coaches and athletes to be leaders); Coaches Camps (designed to minister, equip, and encourage); Team Camps (allowing student-athletes to come together to compete; Power Camps (typically for athletes 8-12 years of age); and Partnership Camps (FCA partners with some of the best existing organizations).

FCA Camps allow coaches and student-athletes to experience an exciting, inspiring, and healthy environment in which they can pursue their passion for sport—while also clearly seeing Christ’s passion for them. And while there is differentiation across the U.S. and the world in terms of COVID restrictions, FCA is observing the individual guidelines as closely as possible.

FCA’s theme for 2021 is Pursue, based on verse 1 of Timothy 6:11: “Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” FCA encourages its members to pursue God’s use of His Word as an anchor, grounding Christians as they look to His Kingdom.

Since 1956, the impact on coaches and athletes has been the main focus of FCA Camps, with each Camp offering fun, outstanding sports training, inspiring speakers, strong friendships, and lasting change.
