Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camps Will Help Transform 100,000+ Lives for Jesus Christ

Upwards of 800 FCA Camps Will Kick Off This Summer in Nearly Every State Across America and in More than 40 Countries

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Some people at the age of 62 might be looking toward retirement, as they wind down the work days and think about slowing down.

That philosophy, however, is the exact opposite for the popular and immensely successful Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ (FCA, www.fca.org) Camps program.

Now in its 62nd year, the first FCA Camp was held in Estes Park, Colorado, in 1956 with the theme of “I Am The Way, The Truth, And The Life.” More than six decades later, FCA Camps are going full-speed ahead, with incredible growth, reach and impact increasing each year.

This summer, more than 100,000 coaches and athletes will be transformed, both athletically and spiritually, at hundreds of Camps across the country and around the world. With the theme of “Strong,” based on the Bible verse 2 Timothy 4:7, Camp attendees will focus on the fact that believers serve a strong God, and how His followers are called to be like Him in every area of their lives—including sports. The coaches and athletes who attend FCA Camps will discover that polishing their athletic skills is important, but strengthening their faith in Christ is crucial.

FCA is hoping to match and exceed some of the amazing Camps numbers from last year:

  • 113,000 coaches and athletes participated in FCA Camps worldwide
  • 780 Camps were held in 45 states and 41 countries
  • 9,417 coaches and athletes made first-time commitments to Christ
  • 10,997 recommitted their lives to Christ
  • 300-plus Camps occurred internationally
  • 4,000-plus certified instructors, Huddle leaders, staff, coaches and counselors help lead the Camps
  • 7,200 larger overall attendance than 2016

“Since 1956, FCA Camps have been bringing life-changing transformation to hundreds of thousands of coaches and athletes,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “While it will never be about the numbers for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we are extremely blessed that God has allowed this ministry to reach millions for Him over the years. When FCA founder Don McClanen organized the first FCA Camp 62 years ago, we know he would have thought it was all worth it if just one coach or one athlete came to Christ. And today, we praise God for every soul transformed by Him through this ministry—whether it is one or 100,000.”

FCA’s easy-to-use Camps website allows coaches, athletes, parents and teams to find Camps by sport, date or location. FCA Camps take the best attributes of an athletic-focused camp and a spiritual-focused camp and combine them into an athletic/spiritual experience like no other. FCA Camps also remove athletes and coaches from the routine of their sport, job or community and place them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment that allows them to pursue their passion for sport and see Christ’s passion for them.
