Fellowship of Christian Athletes Earns 12th Consecutive Four-Star Charity Navigator Rating

Just 1 Percent of Organizations Rated by Charity Navigator Have Received as Many Consecutive Four-Star Evaluations

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) has earned its 12th consecutive four-star designation from Charity Navigator, a leading independent charity evaluator that helps donors make sound giving decisions by evaluating charities’ financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.

Just 1 percent of the organizations Charity Navigator rates have received at least 12 consecutive four-star evaluations. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Fellowship of Christian Athletes from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust, reports Charity Navigator.

“We are honored that Charity Navigator has recognized Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the 12th consecutive year with its top charity rating,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “We count it a privilege to work with friends and supporters around the world, and take very seriously the responsibility before us to use our donors’ gifts wisely and with the best interest of coaches and athletes at heart. FCA is blessed to partner with so many who believe in our vision and mission and have come alongside this worldwide ministry to impact others for Christ.”

Added Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher in a letter to Williamson: “Astute donors are yearning for greater accountability, transparency and for concrete results from us. With more than 1.5 million American charities, Charity Navigator aims to accentuate the work of efficient and transparent organizations. The intent of our work is to provide donors with essential information to give them greater confidence in both the charitable decisions that they make and the nonprofit sector.”

Four stars is Charity Navigator’s highest possible rating and indicates that FCA adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Fellowship of Christian Athletes exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in their area of work.

Forbes, Business Week and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine, among others, have profiled and celebrated Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. Charity Navigator evaluates 10 times more charities than its nearest competitor and attracts more visitors to its website than all other charity rating groups combined. It is estimated that Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities, influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts last year.

FCA is wrapping up another successful Camps season, with about 115,000 coaches and athletes participating in upwards of 800 Camp events worldwide. Last summer, new attendance records were set as 113,000 coaches and athletes converged at 780 FCA Camp events in 45 states and in 41 countries around the world, where 9,417 coaches and athletes made first-time commitments to Christ and 10,997 recommitted their lives to Christ. More than 300 Camps occurred internationally, and 4,000-plus certified instructors, Huddle leaders, staff, coaches and counselors helped lead the Camps. The 2017 attendance was an increase of more than 7,200 over 2016.
