KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Nearly a quarter of a million students, coaches and community members will gather one month from today on more than 500 athletic fields nationwide for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ (FCA, www.fca.org) 16th annual Fields of Faith events on Oct. 9.

Hundreds of student-driven and student-led gatherings across the country and around the world encourage young people to challenge one another to pray, read their Bible and commit their lives to Christ.

Last fall, thousands of lives were changed eternally on more than 500 fields across the country, as the 2018 event set a new record with 240,000 in attendance. Thousands made first-time faith commitments, recommitted their lives to Christ and/or committed to reading their Bible.

“Year after year, it’s an enormous blessing to see all that God has accomplished through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Fields of Faith,” said FCA Executive Director of Ministry Advancement Jeff Martin. “Growing from just a few thousand students at a handful of fields to nearly a quarter of a million attendees worldwide is incredible evidence of the Lord’s power and sovereignty, as He leads us to deepen our relationship with Him, talk to Him daily and get into His Word on a regular basis. None of this would be possible without God and the students He raises up to organize these amazing events, where they share how Jesus has changed their lives.”

Originated in 2004 by Martin, Fields of Faith is a peer-to-peer event that inspires students to refuel their faith and get back to the basics of reading God’s Word through worship and personal testimonies.

In 2002, Martin, then the Oklahoma FCA Area Director, prayed about what to do with his heartfelt frustration regarding the temptations and spiritual battles facing youth. Two years later, Martin’s vision became reality when 6,000 students gathered on school athletic fields throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas for the first-ever Fields of Faith.
