Give Thanks for Religious Freedom in America
This Thanksgiving, The Tide® Global Radio Ministry Reminds Believers to Reflect on Religious Liberty That Others Worldwide Don’t Enjoy
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—Many American families have a Thanksgiving tradition to reflect on the past year and talk about their thankfulness around the dinner table.
This year, The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry is suggesting a new tradition—expressing thanks for the religious freedom believers enjoy in America.
“In America, we take for granted that we can attend church services freely, gather with our Christian friends, pray at restaurants before meals or keep a Bible at our desks at work—or even in our homes,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, however, do not experience that same freedom. Instead, their churches are being closed, groups must meet in secret and believers are shunned by even their own families. I have personally seen the restrictions, limits and fear Christians experience in other countries, and it is heart-breaking. Let’s pray this Thanksgiving that Christians around the world will have peace and freedom, while we thank God for our own daily liberties here in America.”
The Tide ministry records and broadcasts Gospel programming in 25 languages in eight countries—half of which are on this year’s World Watch List for Christian persecution from Open Doors USA. The Tide ministry shares the Good News of Jesus in India (No. 11), Nigeria (No. 14), Nepal (No. 25) and Bhutan (No. 33).
The Tide ministry currently offers audio programming in 25 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Zimbabwe, making it possible for multiple people groups to hear the Gospel in the languages they were born to speak.
