International Fellowship of Christian Athletes Fields of Faith Event Reaches Believers in Korea

With More Than 500 Fields of Faith Events in the U.S., Gathering Overseas Brought Community Together for Prayer, Worship and Bible Commitment

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—For 14 years, hundreds of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) Fields of Faith events have brought together communities on athletic playing fields around the country—impacting millions.

But this fall, one Fields of Faith gathering reached a small but mighty group thousands of miles away in Korea, where an international Fields of Faith event created a “historic moment” for those involved in FCA Korea.

According to an FCA Korea Instagram post, the intimate gathering at Korea International School enabled the Korea Fields of Faith attendees to pray together, worship and encourage one another as they grow in their faith in Jesus Christ:

Fields of Faith in Korea for the first time! Tiny (and) small, but we were blessed to challenge one another to step out on faith—another historical moment! May the Lord continue to work in and through us to draw others to Him! Thank you all for prayer and support! #fof17#fcakorea#

“It is thrilling for all of us at FCA to see Fields of Faith impact others—even internationally,” said FCA Executive Vice President of Ministry Advancement Jeff Martin, who originated Fields of Faith in 2004. “What an incredible testimony to the young people who are so committed to their faith in Christ that they want to share Jesus’ love with their friends. This Fields of Faith event in Korea is just the beginning, and we look forward to what God will do in the years to come through Fields of Faith around the world.”

FCA works with local sport ministry leaders and existing ministries in the East Asia Global Region, which includes South Korea. This impact is expanding throughout East Asia with 31 leaders in 12 countries and many partners in surrounding countries.

FCA Camps and ministries for coaches are integral avenues of FCA International. In East Asia, FCA leaders are intentional in training sports leaders to establish ministry in their countries. The 3Dimensional Coaching program is also growing internationally, and more coaches around the world are meeting together in Coaches Huddles to read the Word, study and pray together.

This past summer, FCA Korea also hosted its second Sports Camp in Suwon, South Korea. Over three days, 82 middle school and high school campers, 11 college-aged Huddle leaders, 12 staff members and a 12-member worship team gathered at Gyeonggi Suwon International School. Roughly 70 percent of student attendees were from five local church youth groups, already in partnership with FCA, while three new churches were introduced to FCA through the Camp. Attendees at the soccer and basketball Camp also had a chance to meet Jake Brigham, a former Major League Baseball player who now plays professionally in South Korea for the Nexen Heroes, and utilized the brand new FCA Sports Bible Handbook in Korean. Most importantly, 25 campers made first-time commitments to Jesus Christ. Read about this summer’s FCA International Camps here.

Here in the U.S., hundreds of Fields of Faith events were led and driven by students around the country on Oct. 11. Last fall, thousands of lives were changed eternally through these gatherings that encourage young people to engage the Bible and commit their lives to Christ. On 519 fields across the country, a new record was set in 2016 with 192,000 in attendance. More importantly, 7,414 attendees made first-time faith commitments, 8,612 recommitted their lives to Christ, and 8,781 committed to reading their Bible. Figures for 2017 will be released soon.
