Lives Being Changed in Albania Through The Tide® Global Gospel Radio Ministry

Once Closed to the Gospel, Albanians Now Hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ Through The Tide Gospel Radio Programs

HARRISBURG, Pa.—Albania, a country once closed to the Gospel until the 1990s, now has the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ through Gospel radio programs, and lives are being changed.

Today, Albanians are learning more about God’s saving grace through The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry, which reaches people in all corners of the world with Gospel programming recorded in the languages they were born to speak.

Often, The Tide ministry hears feedback from those who are being changed from the programs, such as Ben, an atheist from Albania who never believed in God and ridiculed Christians. But he began listening to The Tide ministry’s radio program, and says his life is not the same. He learned to pray, and when he prayed for his daughter who had been in an accident, she was healed.

Ben wrote to The Tide ministry, exclaiming, “How powerful is the Word of God! God is good.” He is now an emigrant in Italy trying to find a job and continues to listen to the ministry’s Albanian radio program on a smartphone app daily. Pastor Klodi, a local of Albania who partners with The Tide ministry to record the Gospel radio programs, continues to disciple Ben through phone calls.

“Technology like the smartphone app that has allowed Ben to continue listening to Gospel radio programs in Albanian—even from another country—is a relatively new outreach for The Tide ministry,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “As we discover that more and more listeners in developed countries like Albania and Kosovo stay connected through mobile devices, we can continue to reach them with the Gospel and the hope of Jesus no matter where they are in the world. This technology, coupled with the relationships people build with local pastors who speak their own language, is invaluable as new believers grow in their faith, share God’s love with others, and lead their family and friends to Christ.”

For more than 70 years, The Tide ministry has been sharing the saving message of Jesus Christ and has seen the Gospel’s power to bring peace and transformation around the world. With almost a quarter of the world’s population living within the current range of The Tide radio programming, and nearly 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, the opportunities are tremendous.

Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Zimbabwe, India, Nigeria, Nepal, Bhutan, Albania and Kosovo, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting Gospel radio programming.
