Local Pastors Let the Light of the Gospel Shine Through The Tide® Radio Programs

Pastors Around the World Make Many Sacrifices and Face Danger for Sharing God’s Love with Listeners in Their Own Language

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry partners with local pastors around the world who have a passion to share the gospel by recording programs so that people can find new life in Christ.

“Most Americans have the opportunity to attend church, listen to Christian radio programming or read their Bible in public—if they so choose,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Many of us will never experience living in fear for simply committing our lives to Christ. We will never know what it feels like to be attacked for our faith. But persecution like this is commonplace in the rest of the world, with millions of Christians facing persecution worldwide. And native pastors, especially, can face difficulties and even threats for shining the light of the gospel.”

The Tide ministry works to reach lost souls for Christ by partnering with local pastors who deliver gospel messages over the airwaves in the languages people were born to speak. When people hear about Jesus’ saving grace in their own language, rather than translations from American programs, it makes a huge difference in how they respond to the gospel, Jesus’ love for them and God’s plan for their lives.

“Even though we may not be carrying out the brave work of these indigenous pastors, we can make an impact in our own communities every day when we encounter people who do not know Jesus Christ,” Shenk added. “It’s such a simple act to tell someone today what Jesus has done for them. If these courageous pastors can do God’s work and face hardship and even danger, surely we can talk about the Savior to just one person in a conversation over a cup of coffee this week.”

Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Zimbabwe, India, Nigeria, Nepal, Bhutan, Albania and Kosovo, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting Gospel radio programming.
