More Listeners in Zimbabwe Mean More Are Responding Positively to the Gospel
The Tide® Partners in Zimbabwe Have Trained a Team of Volunteers to Help with Increased Listener Response Each Sunday
June 15, 2020
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—So many are responding to the Gospel messaging broadcast over the airwaves in Zimbabwe that even more volunteers are needed to answer questions, follow up and reach out in prayer.
It’s a good problem to have, says The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global Gospel ministry.
Since 1983, The Tide ministry has shared the hope of Christ through a program called “Amagugu Evangeli,” which means “Precious Gospel” in English. Over the past several years, listener response to the program has grown exponentially, and more volunteers are needed on the other end.
“This year, our partners at the Zimbabwe studio have reached out to Brethren in Christ churches in the area, asking for volunteers to respond to listeners,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “They tell us that the calls, especially during the airing of the program, are ‘overwhelming.’ Likewise, the response to a call for volunteers was equally positive, and radio personnel are training new volunteers who will serve in the studio in pairs each Sunday during and after the broadcast, once the physical limitations of COVID-19 are lifted. This is an amazing development, an answer to prayer and an immense praise!”
The Tide partners also report that the “Amagugu Evangeli” has seen much success over the past decade.
“We entered this new decade with new dreams, aspirations and hope,” the partners shared. “We thank The Tide and partners for their prayers, encouragement and financial support. We thank God, who is our strength in every step of the way. We thank the local church for their spiritual support. We thank the preachers and presenters who give us content for radio. Finally, ‘Amagugu Evangeli’ would not exist if we had no listeners here across every corner of Zimbabwe. We thank them as they give us the courage to work harder.”
For nearly 75 years, The Tide ministry has recorded and broadcasted Gospel programming in nine countries on three continents in 27 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand and Zimbabwe. With more than 7,000 languages spoken worldwide and more than 2,000 people groups that have been unreached by the Good News of Jesus, the opportunities are tremendous.
