Muslim Student Comes to the Aid of a Christian After Listening to The Tide® Gospel Radio Program
The Tide Programs Are Life-Changing, But in This Case, Also Life-Saving
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry recently heard an amazing story about two students in Nigeria—one Muslim and one Christian—who were connected because of a Tide gospel radio program.
The Tide Director Don Shenk reported that a Christian student in Nigeria was accused of blasphemy by Muslim students, then beaten into a state of unconsciousness. By divine intervention, a Muslim student rushed the Christian student to a nearby hospital before others could do further harm.
“When someone later asked the Muslim student why he chose to help this Christian, he answered that he had listened to The Tide’s Hausa language radio program the night before,” Shenk said. “After more than 70 years of reaching people groups around the world, we know that The Tide gospel radio programs can be life-changing, but in this case, one program was life-saving as well! What an amazing testament to God’s power to change hearts through His Word.”
The Tide ministry’s newest initiative, called “Every Knee, Every Tongue,” allows people to help place gospel radio programs like the one heard by the Muslim student in regions around the world. Through “Every Knee, Every Tongue,” all are welcome to sponsor Christian radio broadcasts produced by The Tide ministry and recorded by local indigenous pastors in both populated and remote communities across the globe.
Rooted in Romans 14:11, “It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God’” (NIV), “Every Knee, Every Tongue” raises the question: How will every knee bow and every tongue proclaim praise to God if we don’t share what Jesus has done with others? Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting gospel radio programming—in the languages people were born to speak.
