New American Family Association Film ‘The God Who Speaks’ Is One of the Final Appearances by the Late R.C. Sproul

VP of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association: Film Is a ‘Masterpiece Reflecting the True Lineage, Character and Efficacy of the Word of God’

TUPELO, Miss.—As the nation still mourns the death of legendary preacher the Rev. Billy Graham but celebrates his life as well, a new film from the American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) called The God Who Speaks is also looking back on the contributions of another man of faith—R.C. Sproul—who was a featured contributor in the movie.

“The God Who Speaks,” produced by American Family Studios (www.americanfamilystudios.net), a division of AFA, is a powerful 90-minute documentary that explores the evidence of the Bible’s inspiration and authority through some of the world’s most respected biblical scholars. Since its Feb. 1 debut, the movie has been enabling thousands of Christians to better defend their faith, talk to skeptics about the truth of the Bible and rest assured in the authority of God’s Word.

Director M.D. Perkins says he was honored to work with Sproul for the film. Sproul’s portion in “The God Who Speaks” was perhaps his last recorded video. The founder of Ligonier Ministries died Dec. 14, 2017. Perkins also hopes the film helps communicate Sproul’s legacy of spiritual truth.

“Dr. Sproul’s teaching has been such a help to me personally throughout the years and it was an incredible honor to get even a short snippet of time with him before he passed away,” Perkins said. “R.C. has always been very clear on the authority of God’s Word because he has maintained—throughout his ministry—such amazing reverence for God. But there’s something that was immediately evident when he sat down with us to be interviewed that day: R.C. Sproul had a deep love for the Lord. I know that part of the reason he agreed to participate in the documentary was because he loves God and he loves the church and he wanted to do everything he could to help the church be clear about the central role the Scriptures should have in our worship, in our apologetics, in our evangelism and in our personal lives. That certainly was our goal in making The God Who Speaks and we trust that the Lord will use it to that end.

Also a man with a deep love for the Lord, Billy Graham’s passing last week was a poignant time for many Christians, who perhaps remembered when they first came to faith through a Billy Graham Crusade. Tom Phillips, vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, also provided words of praise for the “The God Who Speaks” film.

“Billy Graham (was) known for saying, ‘The Bible says…’ often 30 to 50 times in his sermons, for over 50 years. And, God, honoring His Word, convicted and redeemed individuals in the audiences, heart by heart, person by person, lives changed forever. This is the power of the God who speaks by the power of the Holy Spirit through His Word, the Holy Bible. This film, ‘The God Who Speaks—Tracing the Evidence for Biblical Authority,’ is a masterpiece reflecting the true lineage, character and efficacy of the Word of God. Every person, whether secular, of another faith or a follower of Jesus, will be enlightened seeing this documentary.”

“The God Who Speaks” aims to clear up misconceptions about the Bible through other major players in apologetics, including Alistair Begg of Parkside Church, Norman Geisler of Veritas International University and co-founder of Southern Evangelical Seminary, Josh McDowell of Josh McDowell Ministries, R. Albert Mohler of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Alex McFarland of Alex McFarland Ministries and Frank Turek of Cross Examined Ministries, along with many others.

The film is also produced by Jeff Chamblee, director of American Family Studios. For more on “The God Who Speaks,” click here. The two-DVD set with two hours of bonus content, as well as a digital rental, is available for purchase at afastore.net/the-god-who-speaks.
