Southern Evangelical Seminary in One News Now: De Blasio looks gift Samaritan in the mouth

On Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio held a press conference about New York City’s response to the coronavirus, and a reporter asked him why he chose not to attend the opening of the Samaritan’s Purse hospital in Central Park. The ministry has set up tents all over the world in times of crisis, war, and violence, and the mayor told the reporter he was thrilled by the news until he looked into some of the beliefs held by Samaritan’s Purse founder Franklin Graham.

“When I heard more about the organization, and in particular some of the things that Rev. Graham has said, it was very troubling to me,” De Blasio stated. “Was there going to be an approach that was truly consistent with the values and the laws of New York City that everyone was going to be served and served equally?”

The mayor then said he would send representatives over to the hospital to monitor the relief agency.
