Samaritan Ministries Connects 227,000+ Members Through Emerging Technologies

State-of-the-Art IT Systems Constantly Modernized to Meet Growing Demands of Ever-Changing World of Technology

PEORIA, Ill.—While helping more than 227,000 individiual members engage in health care sharing, Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, is finding new ways to both connect with members and help members connect with each other.

Samaritan Ministries IT systems are state of the art and are constantly being modernized to meet the growing demands of an ever-changing world of technology.

“Samaritan Ministries places high value on connecting communities of believers in Jesus Christ across the nation,” said Keith Bradshaw, Samaritan’s Chief Information Officer. “For 22 years, we have relied on much of that connectivity happening by mail and phone, which supports the ministry well. As always, we seek to better serve our members and also continue to implement, improve and modernize our technology systems so members may gain ease of access while exploring new channels of connectivity.”

Bradshaw’s IT team is also committed to meeting the needs and desires of younger members who use technology in all areas of life, while also serving the membership as a whole. For example, Samaritan offers its members online bill submission and also gives members an avenue to connect with each other so they can, for instance, find doctors, discuss certain medical issues or simply support one another, which is at the heart of health care sharing through Samaritan.

“Samaritan emphasizes direct sharing when it comes to bearing each other’s medical burdens,” said Anthony Hopp, Samaritan’s director of external relations. “Now, through technology, we can also enable our members to share in many other areas as well.”

More than 69,000 Samaritan households (227,000-plus individuals) currently share $25 million each month in medical needs, following the Bible’s teachings to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 | ESV).

Samaritan members give a monthly share of only $495 for a family of any size, while individuals give $220 and couples give $440, and send these shares directly to other families. Just as significant, Samaritan members also pray for one another and include notes and cards of encouragement with their monthly shares.
