Samaritan Ministries’ Health Care Sharing Members Find Freedom in Direct Connection with Other Members

In a New Video, Emily Says She Appreciates Making Medical Decisions with Her Doctor and Is Thrilled with Fellow Samaritan Members’ Support After Knee Replacement

PEORIA, Ill.—Members of health care sharing ministries such as Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org) find freedom each month in sending checks and encouraging notes directly to other members who are experiencing a health care need, giving caring support to one another as the Bible instructs.

Samaritan, one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, provides more than 69,000 member households (228,000-plus individuals) with the liberating opportunity to apply principles of New Testament living to 21st-century health care through a direct, household-to-household, non-insurance approach where they can also pray for other members.

Emily, one Samaritan member, says she chose the health care sharing ministry because of this direct-sharing approach.

“I’m really glad I went with Samaritan because of the fact that Samaritan shares go directly from the member to the member, rather than going to headquarters and being sent out,” said Emily in a new member testimonial video on the Samaritan website. “And I just really like that. I get to make my own choices, my doctor and I decide exactly what’s going to happen and no third party makes an attempt let alone has any right to tell me what to decide.

“I love the freedom of it,” Emily continued. “It’s so much wiser a financial decision. Within a year or a little over a year of joining, I had our first need, which was a knee replacement, which is pretty significant. And if I had any qualms before that, that certainly would have taken care of all of them. It has just been wonderful. I’m just absolutely thrilled at how well the people (of Samaritan) have come through.”

Emily added that her interaction with the Samaritan staff was refreshing, especially when a real person who actually cared about her need answered the phone and had answers for her—rather than reading from a script.

Every month, Emily and the other Samaritan members give generously to their fellow members who have qualified medical needs. In this way, this Biblical community currently shares approximately $25 million each month in medical needs, while giving a monthly share of only $495 for a family of any size. Individuals give $220 and couples give $440.
