Samaritan Ministries Members Appreciate Their Fellow Members in Both Challenges and Joys

Cody and Laura in South Carolina Say that When Their Daughter Was Sick ‘the Prayers and Notes from Members Truly Touched Our Hearts’

May 19, 2020

PEORIA, Ill.—Many families are facing difficulties they may have never experienced—both medically and financially—thanks to the COVID-19 situation. But members of Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in the country, are not facing them alone.

Samaritan’s 82,500 member households (more than 270,000 individuals) not only have help from Samaritan staff who pray with them during nearly every interaction, but they also pray for and send financial shares directly to their fellow members. Sending these affordable monthly shares, along with notes and cards of encouragement, to other families creates a connection—both in challenging times and also as families celebrate life’s joys.

Austin in Louisiana reached out to Samaritan Ministries to show his appreciation for the way the ministry has connected with members during the COVID-19 crisis, both with information on how Samaritan is committed to meeting members’ needs as well as with resources to help keep families healthy.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Austin said. “Your email brought great peace and comfort, unlike most of the emails regarding COVID-19 that I have received. I am impressed with the faith and professionalism and forward-thinking character of Samaritan and its employees. I have never been prouder and more grateful to be a member of Samaritan. The Lord provides.”

Joe from South Carolina also expressed his family’s appreciation for Samaritan’s outreach through the crisis.

“Just a quick note to say ‘thank you’ to everyone working at Samaritan Ministries during these confusing, frightening, stressful times,” Joe wrote. “I feel a great affinity for the work of Samaritan Ministries. It is at Samaritan that I see the real, tangible, hands-on work of Christ being done, and it encourages and—no exaggeration—thrills me. So, thank you as we navigate these unknown, treacherous waters. And may God be with us all!”

Cody and Laura, also in South Carolina, said they were shown how well health care sharing through Samaritan Ministries works when their daughter was sick.

“We rarely have needs, but when our daughter was hospitalized with a stomach bug and we were faced with collecting and submitting the bills, everyone I spoke with was so kind and helpful,” they said. “And the prayers and notes from members truly touched our hearts. My daughter was amazed at the people who sent special little things for her in their note. This is a wonderful ministry and we are so thankful for everyone who works so hard to make this available!”

Kim in Michigan said she appreciates that Samaritan Ministries is “Christ-centered, grounded in the Word of God and obviously Spirit-led.”

“The requirements for membership make it possible for Samaritan Ministries to remain a ministry made up of people who truly desire to walk worthy of the calling with which we were called,” Kim said. “I am grateful to be able to participate in sharing another member’s burden each month. May our Lord Jesus Christ continue to use this ministry to be a blessing.”

Christopher and Naomi, Samaritan members in North Dakota, said “words cannot describe how thankful we are for Samaritan Ministries!”

“We are so grateful to members who have helped share the burden of my maternity and our son’s premature needs,” Naomi said. “The notes of encouragement we received have been put in Simeon’s baby book for a reminder to all of us how believers in Christ lifted him up in prayer! What an amazing ministry this is, and we are so thankful to be a part of it!”

From Washington, John and Sharon said that health care sharing through Samaritan Ministries has been a “tremendous blessing” to their family.

“We don’t know what we would have done without Samaritan Ministries,” they said. “Thank you for this Christian service to others in helping with their medical needs. May God bless and prosper Samaritan Ministries!”

Every month, Samaritan’s 82,500 member households (more than 270,000 individuals) pray and send financial shares directly to other members, along with notes and cards of encouragement, through this effective, God-honoring ministry, sharing approximately $30 million in medical needs person to person each month. In fact, over the past 25 years, Samaritan Ministries members have shared over $1.8 billion in health care needs.
