Samaritan Ministries Members’ Financial Shares Will Never Be Used for Abortion

More Than a Quarter of a Million Samaritan Members Affirm Life and Do Not Share in Needs for Unbiblical Practices

PEORIA, Ill.—Several states have enacted new abortion laws this year, with provisions that vary widely, from taking an unborn baby’s life right up until delivery to protecting a pre-born child’s life as soon as a heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

Regardless of how lax or stringent abortion laws in America become, members of Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, know they have not—nor will they ever—be asked to send financial shares to help pay for abortions.

For 25 years, Samaritan Ministries has enabled well over a quarter of a million members to honor God through their health care, which also means Samaritan’s 82,000 member households (268,000-plus individuals) do not dishonor God by funding abortion or other unbiblical practices.

“Samaritan Ministries staff and members love to affirm life and support growing families,” said Anthony Hopp, Samaritan’s vice president of external relations. “And the Word of God forms the basis for all we do. First, Psalm 139:13 says, ‘For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb’ (ESV). We believe those words wholeheartedly. And, second, our ministry is built upon Galatians 6:2: ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.’

“Millions of Americans can’t control where their insurance dollars go and don’t have a say if they are indirectly funding ungodly practices like abortion,” Hopp added. “But Samaritan members can be confident they will not be asked to send any of their monthly shares to help pay for anything that dishonors God.”

Luana from California loves that not only can she avoid network restrictions, referral requirements or pre-authorizations, but she can engage in health care in good conscience as a member of Samaritan Ministries.

“I’m also so glad that I’m not paying into an insurance organization that supports abortion,” Luana said. “So whether it’s an issue of conscience or superfluous red tape, I can be happily relieved!”

Added Joan from Arkansas, “I love helping others with their needs, and I appreciate not having to help pay for a service I don’t agree with, such as abortion.”

Brian and Scharlie of South Carolina say they are blessed to have enjoyed good health this year.

“We are thrilled and so thankful to be able to partner with likeminded believers and not have to support so many Christ-dishonoring practices,” they added.

Samaritan Ministries members say overwhelmingly that they are “happily uninsured” and plan to stay that way. They appreciate that Samaritan Ministries has provided a way for them to pray for and send monthly financial shares directly to their fellow members all year long and to bless them with encouraging personal notes and cards.

Each month, Samaritan members send their financial shares directly to other members through this effective, God-honoring ministry. Samaritan’s growing Biblical community shares approximately $29 million in medical needs person-to-person each month. Yet Samaritan’s monthly share has never exceeded $495 for a family of any size and is even less for two-person and single-person households.
