Samaritan Ministries Members Have Freedom to Visit Doctors Anywhere and Everywhere

Summer Vacations and Out-of-Town Trips Don’t Stop Samaritan Members from Getting Medical Care Away from Home

PEORIA, Ill.—Imagine being injured or becoming ill while on vacation or traveling—and the hassle, stress and frustration that might ensue without being able to go to your family doctor or regular pharmacy in the area.

This has happened to members of Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, but they were free to visit any licensed doctor they chose without financial penalty, even while away from home, because of the freedom that health care sharing affords.

In fact, all 78,000-plus households, comprising more than a quarter of a million individual members, of Samaritan Ministries have the freedom to visit any doctor they choose anywhere—even while on summer vacation.

Millions of Americans have a shared experience,” said Anthony Hopp, vice president of external relations for Samaritan Ministries. “An injury or ailment occurs while on a summer trip, and the insurance hassle can be very frustrating. Suddenly, vacation is no longer enjoyable. Samaritan Ministries members, however, have the freedom to visit any licensed provider—anywhere and everywhere—because there are no networks or preferred providers. Samaritan members can truly ‘own’ their health care, and that means visiting a medical professional when and where it suits them—not when and where it suits an insurance company.”

Each month, Samaritan’s growing Biblical community shares about $27 million in medical needs person-to-person. In fact, from 2007 through 2017, Samaritan Ministries members shared $1.2 billion in health care needs.

While sending monthly financial shares directly to other member families, these members also pray and send notes and cards of encouragement through this effective, affordable and God-honoring ministry. For the 23 years of Samaritan Ministries’ existence, the monthly financial share has never exceeded $495 for a family of any size and is even less for couples and singles.

John and Kirsten from Missouri especially appreciate the freedom they experience with Samaritan.

“After feeling like we were paying too much in insurance premiums, and sensing that our family was still growing, we began to look for something that aligned better with our values as a Christian and would be more economical,” they wrote. “From the beginning, we liked what we read, saw and heard about Samaritan Ministries. It was the best decision we made in regards to our health care. Through the years, we have had three needs, and have had nearly $18,000 in shared expenses. Instead of being locked into a network or certain group of doctors, we have been able to shop around for the most affordable doctors. (We) highly recommend Samaritan Ministries to any Christian family.”

Kristen from Indiana said her family experienced its first need just 2½ months after joining Samaritanher son’s broken foot—and they have been amazed and blessed by the process, with no limitations on the doctors they could visit.

“Samaritan answered my phone call with a REAL person within a few rings,” Kristen wrote. “He assured me I could go ANYWHERE I wanted—no networks!—and not to worry about finances and just focus on getting (our son) into a doctor. As I cried on the phone, he lifted (us) up in prayer. By the time I got home, he had already emailed me asking if everything was OK, and I received a follow-up call and another prayer. God has a way of using people, organizations and situations to bless you in the most amazing ways!”

Laura from Missouri was thankful for the freedom of health care sharing when her baby daughter had a serious medical issue. But the family was not limited in her treatment.

“There were no complicated networks,” Laura wrote. “No arguing on the phone with someone a thousand miles away about what treatments were ‘approved.’ We took our (daughter) to see the best, and were able to decide what treatments were needed by working with our doctors—and ONLY our doctors. And along the way members of Samaritan have been praying with us and helping us pay for her therapy and other treatments.”

Samaritan Ministries offers two membership levels, Samaritan Classic and Samaritan Basic. Samaritan Basic has a lower monthly share coupled with a higher initial unshared amount than Samaritan Classic. This gives both present and future members two options for choosing what they believe is best for their families—and their budgets. Monthly shares for Samaritan Basic start as low as $100 for one person, $200 for two people and $250 for a family of any size, depending on age. Some guidelines differ between Samaritan Basic and Samaritan Classic; contact Samaritan Ministries for details or visit this link.
