Samaritan Ministries Members Thankful for Loving, Faithful, Biblical Community During COVID-19 Crisis
Samaritan Member Debi from Colorado: ‘To Have My Bills Shared Gives Me Great Peace of Mind at This Time’

PEORIA, Ill.—Throughout the months-long COVID-19 crisis, Americans, as well as people around the globe, have longed for community—perhaps not realizing how important human interaction really is in our digital world.
As the world continues to deal with the effects of the coronavirus—on health, on the economy and on life as a whole—members of Samaritan Ministries International (samaritanministries.org), one of the leading health care sharing ministries in the country, say they are all the more grateful for this Biblical community of believers.
“COVID-19 has really made it tough for my wife, Kyle, as she continues to suffer from the effects of aneurysms and seizures,” wrote Ed, a Samaritan member from New Hampshire. “She cannot take pain medications, and the social distancing has made it difficult for her to receive therapies. We have had many members and family and friends praying for us, and God has provided two very special friends to give Kyle extra care. We don’t know where we would be without them.”
Samaritan members like Ed and Kyle—82,700 member households in all, more than 270,000 individuals—not only have the support of Samaritan staff who pray with them during nearly every interaction, but they also pray for and send financial shares directly to their fellow members. Sending these affordable monthly shares, along with notes and cards of encouragement, to other families creates a connection that stays with families for years to come.
Debi, a Samaritan member from Colorado, said being a member in the current health care landscape, has given her greater peace of mind.
“To have the bills shared for my ER visit for heart problems gives me great peace of mind at this time,” Debi said. “Our God is so good. And it’s wonderful to ‘meet’ other Christians who are so encouraging through this ministry. In this crazy time of COVID-19 it helps me remember that God’s got this!”
Through this effective, God-honoring ministry, over a quarter of a million members of Samaritan Ministries are sharing approximately $30 million in medical needs person to person each month. In fact, over the past 25 years, Samaritan Ministries members have shared over $1.8 billion in health care needs.
“Receiving the cards, shares and especially the prayer has been a huge blessing in my life as I deal with skin cancer,” added Christine, a Samaritan member from Maine. “I am very thankful that members were able to send their shares even during this time of economic uncertainty. May the Lord bless them for their faithfulness. And bless you, Samaritan staff, for all that you are doing to facilitate this ministry during these trying times.”
