Samaritan Ministries Partners with Investment Analyst and Radio Host Dan Celia to Help Sort Through Health Care Choices
New 28-Minute Program Available for Stations to Educate and Empower Listeners to Take Control of Their Own Health Care
PEORIA, Ill.—In the midst of uncertainty about health care choices, many Americans are looking for a trusted source to help them separate facts from fiction.
In an effort to help clear up this health care confusion, Samaritan Ministries International, one of the largest health care sharing ministries in America, has joined with biblical investing authority and nationally syndicated host and Dan Celia of Financial Issues Stewardship Ministries for a new radio project.
Celia joins Cody DeWitt, a health care research analyst at Samaritan, for the 28-minute radio special to dive into the health care options in America. During the program, they discuss how Americans can make wise decisions about their health care, including their finances.
“Many may not realize that God has a plan for our health care, and this is evidenced in the Bible,” Celia said. “God definitely has a plan for our finances, and our resources are from Him, to use wisely for His good while we are on this Earth. Health care is a significant consideration for many Christians, and it can be stressful and confusing as well. As Americans face higher and higher premiums and deductibles, it is possible to navigate this confusion—all while keeping God as the focus.”
Celia is one of nearly 250,000 members of Samaritan Ministries. For him, the decision to become a Samaritan member was about more than finances. Samaritan members also pray for one another and include notes and cards of encouragement with their monthly shares, following the Bible’s teachings to “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 | ESV).
“I watched as health care costs skyrocketed, and I needed to know what to do for my own family, so I was sure that millions of my listeners were faced with the same difficulties,” Celia said. “I first heard about health care sharing through friends. I was always fascinated by health care sharing, and when I saw my own premiums increase dramatically, I said, ‘It’s time,’ and I took a long, hard look at health care sharing ministries.”
Celia was also interested in providing information on health care sharing to his listeners and viewers. So Samaritan invited Celia to its Peoria, Illinois, headquarters and explained the mission, vision and process of direct health care sharing. After further research, reflection and prayer, Celia and his wife, Yvonne, joined Samaritan in January 2015.
“This is what God intended, getting back to the book of Acts,” Celia said. “I still think it’s amazing how well it works. My wife, who is a nurse and was working in hospital administration, was skeptical about health care sharing. But now she is sold out.”
Celia talks about health care costs and options frequently on his daily, three-hour radio show, which reaches millions of listeners on approximately 640 stations. The radio special will feature Celia’s unique style that listeners love, coupled with relevant health care information from DeWitt.
