Southern Evangelical Seminary Shares ‘The Twelve Days of Apologetics’

SES President Dr. Richard Land and SES Faculty Relay 12 Reasons for the Truth of the Christmas Story Through Online Video Series

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Southern Evangelical Seminary (SES, www.ses.edu) is again sharing its video series, “The Twelve Days of Apologetics,” through a dozen interesting and enlightening online Christmas-themed videos from SES professors, deans and students, including Evangelical leader and SES President Dr. Richard Land.

“As part of the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the faculty of SES and I have produced ‘The Twelve Days of Apologetics’—Christmas version—focusing on providing solid and biblical answers to 12 questions that arise in the midst of the Christmas season,” said Land about the video series in today’s installment of his daily radio feature, “Bringing Every Thought Captive.” “Our SES faculty and alumni will be discussing in four- or five-minute video segments such issues as messianic prophecies fulfilled by the Christ child, the story of the Magi, why we can trust the New Testament, the significance of the virgin birth and the nature of the incarnation.

“I conclude this series with the discussion of why Jesus had to come and be the sacrifice for our sins so that we can be saved from God’s righteous judgment for sin,” Land continued. “For God to be just as well as merciful, a price had to be paid for sin, and Jesus came to sacrifice Himself once—for all—on the cross, as that price and that substitute for all who will accept Him and His sacrifice for their sin, as well as accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior.”

Land added that the videos make great devotionals for individuals and for families. Video topics include “The Existence of God,” “Messianic Prophecies,” “The Virgin Birth,” “Myth Copying,” “The Magi,” “Christmas and Its Pagan Roots,” “Was Jesus Born in a Stable?” and “Why Did Jesus Have to Come?” To view all 12 videos online, click here. Those who begin daily viewing today, Dec. 13, and watch one video per day will complete the series on Dec. 25.

“Why do we give each other gifts for Christmas?” Land added. “Because we are honoring the greatest gift ever given. ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe on Him would not perish, but have life everlasting.’ ‘And to them that believed on His name, to them gave He the power to become the children of God.’ These are two of the most famous verses of the Gospel of John.”

The web-based video series is designed to equip Christians with information that supports the celebration of Christmas. The hope is that Christians, along with those who are skeptical of Christianity, will be informed and impacted as they look at the compelling case for Christmas.
