Taking the Chance for a New Start
Dr. Alex McFarland: The Nation Has Been Given a Gift of a New Beginning and an Opportunity for Real Change in America
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—With the holidays quickly approaching, Americans are looking back at this year, reflecting on how much of it entailed election news and its historic outcome. Many felt deluged, overwhelmed and, eventually, fatigued by headlines swirling around the presidential candidates.
Now, says religion and culture expert and author Dr. Alex McFarland (www.AlexMcFarland.com), the nation has a chance to examine 2016 and take the chance for a new beginning in 2017—and beyond.
“We all knew our country desperately needed change,” McFarland said, “and no matter how we felt on November 9, we should now be filled with the hope of Christ as He renews the future of America. As Christians, one thing we can certainly agree on is that no amount of change or progress will be accomplished without God—or without the fervent and sincere prayers of His people.
“I visit three to four churches every single week, spending much of my time traveling around this great country,” McFarland continued. “And I meet people of all ages and in various stages of their faith journeys. They have many differences among them, but they have many things in common, too. They all need God, and acknowledge that our country definitely needs God and an intercession from Him that can return us to our constitutional and biblical roots. This is not the time to say, ‘Whew, we won the election. We can finally rest.’ Just the opposite is true. Now is not the time to rest, but to take advantage of this incredible chance the Lord has given us to better our churches, our government and eventually, our entire nation.”
Months before the presidential election, McFarland, who has written 18 books including “Stand Strong America,” talked to Americans about eight crucial voting considerations. Now, he says, these matters, when taken to heart, point to the country’s choice for the Trump-Pence team, an administration that will begin leading the country in January to protect life, preserve religious freedom, strengthen national security, build up our economy and appoint Supreme Court justices who will truly defend the Constitution. Those considerations include:
- Remember that “the perfect is the enemy of the good.”
- Will my life be better or worse under this president?
- Will this president protect my religious freedom?
- How will this candidate protect life?
- Will this candidate protect our country?
- Who will this president appoint to the Supreme Court?
- Will this president protect the financial resources with which God has entrusted us?
- Will I feel good about the decisions this president will make?
