The Coalition for Christian Outreach Receives Four-Star Charity Navigator Rating

December 17, 2020

PITTSBURGHCoalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) is humbled and honored to have received the four-star designation from Charity Navigator, America’s largest organization rating the fiscal management of charities.

Dan Dupee, former Chairman of the Board for CCO, said, “The CCO is grateful to have earned the four-star designation from Charity Navigator. We’ve answered God’s call to reach college students, and that translates in how we steward our finances. We are blessed to partner with so many who believe in our mission and vision and have helped support our community of fellowship.”

Added Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher in a letter to CCO leadership, “Four stars is Charity Navigator’s highest possible rating and indicates that the Coalition for Christian Outreach adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a four-star rating verifies that Coalition for Christian Outreach exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in their area of work.”

Forbes, Business Week, and Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine, among others, have profiled and celebrated Charity Navigator’s unique method of applying data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. The organization evaluates 10 times more charities than its nearest competitor and currently attracts more visitors to its website than all other charity rating groups combined. Charity Navigator data shows that users of its site donated more than they planned to before viewing its findings, and in fact, it is estimated that last year Charity Navigator influenced approximately $10 billion in charitable gifts.

The college and university campus is the most strategic mission field in the world, with only 2% of students being reached with the Gospel. CCO partners with local church congregations to help students feel a sense of belonging. A community is formed between the CCO staff and students, who are invited into the lives of local congregations. Through this community of fellowship, CCO is able to minister to the students in a life-changing way.
