The Quarter of a Million Samaritan Ministries Members Trust and Honor God with Their Health Care
Samaritan Ministries Members Follow the Bible’s Teachings to Bear One Another’s Burdens, and They Save Thousands of Dollars
PEORIA, Ill.—Reasons abound why Americans may choose health care sharing—cost savings, more freedom and transparency, and regaining control of their medical decisions. But above all these reasons they give is the ability to honor God with their health care.
For 23 years, Samaritan Ministries International, one of the leading health care sharing ministries in America, has helped tens of thousands of members be more Christ-centered with their health care.
With more than a quarter of a million members (nearly 80,000 member households), Samaritan Ministries focuses on enabling members to “bear one another’s burdens to fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2 | ESV). This Biblical foundation of the ministry is lived out by praying for fellow members while sending financial shares directly to other households.
Samaritan members now share $27 million in medical needs each month within this caring fellowship of Christians. The monthly financial share has never exceeded $495 for a family of any size and is even less for couples and singles.
But beyond the financial factor, Samaritan members say they appreciate how health care sharing enables them to better practice the Bible’s teachings.
Michael and Nanette of Texas say that Samaritan Ministries is the epitome of the Biblical principle of giving and receiving.
“Our family is blessed to give to other families every month,” they said. “We have been on the receiving end and know the blessing of allowing our brothers and sisters in Christ to meet our medical needs. It is how the body of Christ is supposed to operate: in caring for one another through prayer and financial provisions. We thank our mighty God for Samaritan Ministries.”
Arielle from Maryland said she is thankful for organizations like Samaritan Ministries where Christians can support one another and do what the Bible commands.
“It’s a blessing to so many,” she said, “and we’re seeing what a gift it is that we really are giving to another family every month.”
Brandon from Texas said he has been immensely blessed through the loving members of Samaritan Ministries.
“From the first day I mentioned my Special Prayer Need to a staff member at Samaritan, they took the time to whole-heartedly listen to my need and pray for me,” Brandon said. “Then, when I received the first check in the mail—followed by the next—I was blown away. With each check and each card I received, I felt more and more the love of God. I truly believe that Samaritan Ministries models a Biblical example of how Christians are to care for one another. What a God-inspired solution to such a terrible situation—our modern-day insurance system. I am thankful that this organization has chosen to follow a Biblical example of how to address a national problem.”
Kimberly from Michigan echoed Brandon’s sentiments, saying she and her family were “blown away” by the kind notes, prayers and financial provision from their fellow Samaritan members.
“After much research and prayer, it became obvious that Biblical health care, of course, is the only way to go!” she said. “What a joy to share in caring for and praying for others in the Body of Christ! There is no concern or stress. We left that with the Lord, and the Body of Christ has blessed us immensely! We are truly grateful for all the God-given gifts and abilities of everyone involved—members and staff alike!”
Samaritan Ministries offers two membership levels, Samaritan Classic and Samaritan Basic. Samaritan Basic has a lower monthly share coupled with a higher initial unshared amount than Samaritan Classic. This gives both present and future members two options for choosing what they believe is best for their families—and their budgets. Monthly shares for Samaritan Basic start as low as $100 for one person, $200 for two people and $250 for a family of any size, depending on age. Some guidelines differ between Samaritan Basic and Samaritan Classic; contact Samaritan Ministries for details or visit this link.
