Sally’s Lambs to donate gift baskets to encourage and support birth mothers who courageously choose life through adoption

WASHINGTON D.C. — As America prepares to celebrate Mother’s Day, few know of the holiday just the day before: National Birth Mother’s Day. On the Saturday before Mother’s Day, many gather to honor and support birth mothers who choose life and make a loving plan of adoption.

Bethany Bomberger, executive director and co-founder of The Radiance Foundation (Radiance, www.theradiancefoundation.org), is proud to support birth mothers through Sally’s Lambs, an outreach of The Radiance Foundation that celebrates adoption by cherishing birth moms. Bomberger cofounded Sally’s Lambs with original Radiance Board member Joy DeAngelo Bowman to honor the legacy of Bowman’s late mother Sally DeAngelo. Sally had boundless love for people, especially women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Bomberger stated, “Our heart is to help birth mothers who choose adoption to know that they are loved and never alone. This ministry hopes to carry out the legacy of love of Sally DeAngelo. She was once a teen mom who placed her son for adoption. Later in life, she got married, had four more children, and compassionately ministered to unwed mothers. Sally spent many years volunteering at her local pregnancy care center. She and her husband brought many young mothers and children into their own home to care for them materially and spiritually. In 2003, Sally passed away after battling brain cancer for three years.”

Bomberger continued, “Sally’s Lambs works with pregnancy care centers, adoption agencies and with birth mothers directly to help them feel cherished and connected. We believe the birthmoms, especially those who’ve chosen to place their children for adoption, need emotional, spiritual, and financial support. Every year on National Birth Mother’s Day, we design and deliver birth mom gift baskets tailored to the preference and needs of the birth mom. Each basket is as unique as she is. We also run maternity clothing drives to collect gently used or new clothes.”
