The Tide® 70-Year-Old Radio Ministry Celebrates Two Years of Sharing Gospel in Albania
Lives Being Changed in This Predominantly Muslim Nation; Those Who Give Just $40 Provide Radios to All Corners of the World
HARRISBURG, Pa.—Last year, The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry celebrated 70 years of sharing the gospel through media partnerships worldwide. This month, The Tide ministry is marking two years of sharing the message of Jesus Christ in Albania—and the lives that are being changed there.
“Just over two years ago, The Tide ministry launched radio programming in the predominantly Muslim country of Albania,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “Now, the fruits of those labors are evidenced, as hundreds of lives are being changed. We have been so blessed to see lives touched by the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Albania, but although progress is being made in this nation, where nearly 60 percent adhere to the tenets of Islam, there is much work to be done. We can never rest until all hear the good news of the saving grace of Jesus.”
Gezim, a listener in Albania, wrote to The Tide ministry and said he came to the Lord as a result of listening to The Tide programs and speaking with the staff at The Tide partner ministry in Albania. Gezim comes from a Muslim family, and when he became a Christian, he began to pray for the salvation of his family. He encouraged them to listen to The Tide’s Gospel program on the radio, and now they are listening and learning to understand the Bible. Gezim’s mother also became a believer and goes to church regularly, and joins Gezim in praying for the salvation of her husband.
In Albania, families can hear The Tide Gospel programs through a partnership with Radio 7, a Christian radio network in Albania and Kosovo. Thanks to generous donors who give just $40, a radio is provided in areas around the world so others can listen to programming in the language they were born to speak. With almost a quarter of the world’s population living within the current range of The Tide radio programming, and nearly 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, the opportunities are tremendous.
Later this year, The Tide ministry will also offer programming in its 25th language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Zimbabwe, India, Nigeria, Nepal, Bhutan, Albania and Kosovo, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting Gospel radio programming.

For more than 70 years, The Tide radio programs have been changing lives by telling people about Jesus in the language they were born to speak. Founded in 1946 as the Gospel Tide Broadcasting Association, The Tide ministry has transitioned from a domestic radio program to a versatile multi-national outreach focusing on the least reached regions of the world. Through radio broadcasts in 24 heart languages, thousands of lost people are coming to know Christ. Driven by a sense of urgency to rescue the world from false teachings and pagan religious practices, The Tide board of directors is constantly working to introduce evangelistic radio programs in additional languages so that an ever increasing number of people can hear the good news about Jesus and His love for them.
The Tide outreach includes discipleship seminars, literature distribution, Bible correspondence courses and leadership training. This combination of ministry elements has proven to be extremely effective in changing lives and planting churches where believers are nurtured in their faith so that whole communities are drawn into the Kingdom of God.
