The Tide® Global Radio Ministry Continues to Reach Listeners Worldwide Through Creative Media

The Tide Ministry Is Impacting Millions with the Gospel Through Traditional Radios, Solar-Powered Media Players, Online Apps and More

HARRISBURG, Pa.—When The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry began reaching listeners worldwide with the hope of the Gospel through radio programming in their own languages, the mode was mainly traditional radios that were shared by many in villages.

But today, as technology changes, The Tide ministry shares the Gospel through many other new and exciting avenues.

“The Lord has blessed The Tide ministry immensely over 73 years in existence and has allowed us to branch out in unique ways that reach people who need Christ on many different platforms,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “For example, while many still listen to The Tide programming on traditional radios, thousands more hear God’s Word from local pastors in their native tongue through live-streaming online links, solar-powered media players, podcasts and apps like WhatsApp. We are thankful for the many ways God has helped us reach even more people for Him through these creative media platforms.”

Shenk noted that since 1946, The Tide ministry’s mission has been to creatively share the Good News of the Gospel around the world through media, but even founder Charlie Byers, who broadcast the first Gospel Tide Hour in August 1946, could not have guessed the many means by which listeners would hear about the hope of Christ.

The Tide ministry currently offers audio programming in 25 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Zimbabwe, making it possible for multiple people groups to hear the Gospel in the languages they were born to speak.
