The Tide® Helps Bring Life Change to People of Albania Through Gospel Radio and Television

Says a Listener from Nearby Kosovo: ‘I Have Learned the Importance to Live My Faith Out in Public, Though That Is Difficult Sometimes in Our Country’

HARRISBURG, Pa.—Even though they are thousands of miles away, The Tide® (www.thetide.orgglobal radio ministry can feel close to the people of Albania and Kosovo being reached through Gospel radio programming.

“Because of the testimonials from listeners provided to our partners on the ground, we can be witness to the triumphs of a new life in Jesus, as well as to the struggles and challenges our brothers and sisters in Christ face in Albania and nearby Kosovo,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk.

Since 2015, The Tide ministry has been working with its partner Radio 7 Albania and local pastors to produce and air Christian programs in the Albanian language. These programs, titled “Sipas Fjales,” or “According to the Word,” are being used as church-planting tools as pastors make disciples of listeners who respond to the Gospel. Cities within reach of the radio broadcasts include Gjakova, Prishtina, Gjirokaster, Shkoder and Tirana.

But besides radio programming that reaches listeners in Albania and Kosovo through podcasts, streaming and apps, The Tide ministry has also been working with local pastors, musicians, volunteers and others to record, produce and broadcast a new television program called “Koha Për Të Folur,” or “Time to Talk,” that will begin airing this month. Aimed at a younger audience, the TV setting will resemble a coffee shop and feature local live music. A local, well-known pastor who has built relationships with Albanian Christians will lead discussions on various topics that young people face in Albania. Each episode will conclude with an opportunity to respond to the Gospel.

Both the radio and television programs will reach listeners like these in Kosovo who are sharing how the hope of Jesus Christ changed their lives:

  • “Pastor G is a great teacher of the Bible. Because of his teachings, I have been able to learn a lot about Jesus and how to better study the Bible. I’m disabled and have no possibility to attend church services, so Radio 7 is my best friend. I pray every day for Pastor G and for his family. May God bless you all.”—Marigona
  • “I was raised by atheist parents but lately I have been listening to ‘Sipas Fjales’ with Pastor G and want to know more about Christianity. Thank you for your willingness to talk to me and answer my questions. I love the MP3 player you gave to me. It is filled with very interesting preaching.”—Vehbi
  • “Radio 7 is my good friend. I love the music and all programs. I listen to good preachers of the Bible but Pastor J is my favorite one. He makes the Bible very real and easy to understand. I have learned from him the importance to live my faith out in public though that is difficult sometimes in our country. I thank God for good teachers of the Bible.”—Elira

The Tide ministry currently offers audio programming in 25 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Zimbabwe, making it possible for multiple people groups to hear the Gospel in the languages they were born to speak.
