The Tide® Ministry Goes Beyond Radio Airwaves to Impact Communities in India

Seekers’ Conferences, Social Work, Village Cleanup, Literature Distribution, Bible Courses and Health Awareness All Part of Outreach

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—Since 1946, The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry has been reaching listeners with the Gospel over radio airwaves. But even after the programs end each week, partners on the ground and local pastors reach out to communities to continue the Lord’s work.

“We are thrilled when we hear about the life change listeners in India experience as a result of hearing our programs in the eight different languages across this Hindu nation,” said The Tide Director Don Shenk. “But beyond recording, producing and broadcasting those programs, we realize the needs of radio listeners in India are great. For this reason, The Tide partners coordinate for additional projects, which include distributing Gospel literature, composing Bible Correspondence Courses, conducting Seekers’ Conferences where new believers can gather, and of course, praying for the requests these wonderful people share with us, whether physical, spiritual or emotional.”

Additionally, The Tide partners, staff and volunteers have provided services in many villages across Odisha and Chhattisgarh state through 15 Social Work Centers, village cleanup days, plantation workshops, medical camps, health teaching sessions and health awareness programs.

Those who listen to The Tide ministry’s Gospel radio programs are not only impacted for eternity, but their immediate, earthly needs are met as well.

“I listen to the ‘Ujjna Gahi Dahare’ radio program in my own language, Kurukh,” said Sanjeeb from Chhattisgarh state. “My heart was filled with joy and adoration, and I just thanked the Lord for this radio broadcast in my own language. After listening to the word of God, I accepted Jesus as my Savior and He changed my life.”

Pratap from Odisha state is also a regular listener of The Tide’s Kui language program, “Ehpa Gatanju.”

“I am listening to your radio program every week and getting peace and joy in my life,” he said. “Your Bible lesson also gave me more information about Jesus Christ and His love. Thanks for helping me to know Lord Jesus Christ. Now I have accepted Jesus as my Savior.”

For more than seven decades, The Tide ministry has recorded and broadcasted Gospel programming in eight countries on three continents in 25 heart languages spoken by millions of people in multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand and Zimbabwe. With more than 7,000 languages spoken worldwide and more than 2,000 people groups that have been unreached by the Good News of Jesus, the opportunities are tremendous.
