The Tide® Radio Programming Reaches Listeners in Albania Who Aren’t Afraid to Share the Gospel
Albanian Professor Shares Her Life-Changing Faith with Students, Even in the Face of Danger and Strife in This Muslim-Majority Nation
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—The Tide® (www.thetide.org) global radio ministry has heard touching stories of what it’s like for Christians to live in a Muslim-majority country. After listening to The Tide Gospel radio programming, one listener in Albania shared her powerful testimony.
The Tide Director Don Shenk reports that Ida, a university professor, recently told the ministry that she regularly listens to a Tide radio program and talks about Christianity with her students.
“I listen to Radio 7 all the time, and the broadcast has literally changed my life,” Ida shared. “I’m a university professor, and I believe God has placed me in the midst of students to make a difference for God’s Kingdom. I often share my faith with my students and encourage them to search for God and know Him.”
Ida’s brave decision to share her testimony with her students can actually be a dangerous one. According to a recent Associated Press article, Albania has heightened its security efforts due to terror threats and attacks in Europe. Police have increased their presence at common places and attractions, and even though no terror attack has yet occurred in Albania, where the majority are Muslim and Christians are in the minority, there’s always concern. But Albanians who have heard The Tide gospel radio programming aren’t afraid to spread the Good News.
Those who want to partner with The Tide ministry and help reach more radio listeners like Ida can become a part of the ministry’s newest initiative called “Every Knee, Every Tongue,” which allows people to help place Gospel radio programming in regions around the world. Through “Every Knee, Every Tongue,” all are welcome to sponsor Christian radio broadcasts produced by The Tide ministry and recorded by local indigenous pastors in both populated and remote communities across the globe. Later this year, The Tide ministry will offer programming in its 25th heart language—Isaan, spoken by 19 million people in Thailand. That initiative will allow Thailand to join multiple regions of Albania, Bhutan, India, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, where The Tide ministry is already active in broadcasting gospel radio programming—in the languages people were born to speak.
The Tide ministry is also planning several local events this month, including the following:
- September 21: The Tide Promotional Dinner, 6 to 8 p.m. at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 1050 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. Attendees at the free event will have the opportunity to learn more about The Tide ministry and hear music from By the Way. Learn more or register here.
- September 28: The Tide 3rd Annual Fall Golf Benefit, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Bridges, 6729 York Road in Abbottstown, PA. Cost is $90 and registrations may be made online here.
