Trump to Sign Executive Order Rolling Back Environmental Regulations

Financial Expert Dan Celia: Trump is Making Good on Pro-Growth Promises

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—President Donald Trump will sign an executive order today that will “suspend, rescind or flag for review more than a half-dozen measures in an effort to boost domestic energy production in the form of fossil fuels,” Fox News reported this morning.

The move makes good on a campaign pledge to unravel former President Barack Obama’s sweeping plan to curb global warming, also according to Fox News. Trump will also review the Clean Power Plan, which restricts greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants. The regulation has been the subject of long-running legal challenges. The Trump administration will also lift a 14-month-old moratorium on new coal leases on federal lands.

Financial expert Dan Celia says Trump is following through with the regulation cuts he promised to create more jobs and put more Americans back to work.

“The Obama administration put so many regulations on businesses that the coal industry was dying—and jobs were dying along with it,” Celia said. “Donald Trump accurately said the previous administration was waging a ‘war on coal.’ Simply put, businesses in general haven’t been able to grow and prosper and add more jobs because of the pages and pages of regulations tying their hands. Now, President Trump, making good on his pro-growth economy promises, will roll back some of those regulations to make it possible for businesses to thrive again rather than be shackled by the government.”

Last January, the Obama administration had imposed a three-year moratorium on new federal coal leases, according to Fox News, “arguing that the $1 billion-a-year program must be modernized to ensure a fair financial return to taxpayers and address climate change.”

Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency chief, Scott Pruitt, appeared on “Fox & Friends” this morning stating the president is setting a new course that is both “pro-jobs” and “pro-environment.”

“It’s going to create jobs in the oil and gas sector,” Pruitt said. “For too long, over the last several years, you’ve had certain industries, certain sectors of our economy that were within the crosshairs of the EPA.”
